Harris Out Another 2 Weeks, CDR Likely to Miss Friday

Devin Harris got a second opinion on his groin injury yesterday, and while it's still being called a strain, his timetable to return has been pushed back. He says that the earliest he'll return is two weeks from yesterday, which has him out at least another six or seven games. Meanwhile, Chris Douglas-Roberts has the flu, did not travel with the team to Philadelphia, and is questionable for Friday's game against the Sixers.

If we come out of this month with a win it will be a miracle.

Nowww We get a chance 2 See How GR8 all of these Players are WITHOUT CDR! WHAT will be the Excuse when they Lose This TIME? Well..it WON’T be CDR’s Selfishness as they say…They’ll have a Hard Time Scoring 65pts…GOOD LUCK NETS

If we come out of this month with more than 4 healthy players, it’ll be a miracle!

by Jb on Nov 5, 2009 3:52 PM EST reply actions

From bad to worse. I hope Devin isn’t pulling our leg with this injury. How do you go from 7-10 days (post injury) to 2-4 weeks (post second opinion)? I hope this isn’t one of those infamous “phantom injuries” to force a trade.

by MrT on Nov 5, 2009 3:54 PM EST reply actions

If CDR is out who is gonna score? We’re gonna shoot like 17 percent from the field.

by NCH on Nov 5, 2009 4:11 PM EST reply actions

i can’t watch this team until everybody is healthy

by Steven on Nov 5, 2009 4:14 PM EST reply actions

I have the “feeling” Harris does not want to play for this team anymore. Pure speculation of course, but he does not seem to be into this team and this “feeling” started in pre-season for me. Hopefully CDR can play tomorrow. The season has not been kind to us but there is still a long way to go. Keep the faith. Lets go Nets… Whats left of us…

by Mike on Nov 5, 2009 4:15 PM EST reply actions

Any thoughts on the Harris not wanting to be here speculation from someone a bit more in the know? I’m thinking maybe a mastermind-behind-NetsDaily sort of gentleman with some connections. Any word?

Do you really think Devin wants to waste the prime years of his career in this mess. JKidd gave him the blueprint.

by Tom F on Nov 5, 2009 4:28 PM EST reply actions

Bright side. All our players should get plenty of minutes. Maybe they learn to play together. I find this year very frustrating but also very entertaining in some strange way. It’s like watching a airplane crash, can’t turn your eyes away from it, even though you feel sick of what your seeing. I will be watching tomorrow, can’t turn my eyes away.

by Mike on Nov 5, 2009 4:29 PM EST reply actions

Hope CDR bounces right back. The Nets need him. Hope everyone else goes all out to really compete. GO NETS!!

I have a good feeling we can beat the Sixers… if the Septa strike continues they may not be able to leave town…

by twillsboy on Nov 5, 2009 4:35 PM EST reply actions

Latest tweet from CDR is:

@ home sick as a dog.Good luck to my Nets tomorrow. They’re treating me like the outbreak monkey.“you can’t be around any of your teammates.”

From this statement, looks like he is not going to play tomorrow for sure.

by Scott on Nov 5, 2009 4:36 PM EST reply actions

I am hating these injuries because injuries are just another exuse to keep Frank well how do we expect to win with out our all star?
I just want to come on Netsdaily one day and it to read
Lawrence Frank let go from contract!

by Mike on Nov 5, 2009 4:46 PM EST reply actions

Any real argument about whether or not Devin’s injury-prone? This will be the third straight year he’ll miss more than 10 games. If that’s not a pattern, I don’t know what is.

Time to trade harris.

let him play and then trade him b4 allstar break. he is made of glass and peanut brittle. like i said b4 he takes pride in his injuries and it is disgusting. he is going to be out for a month for a strained groin?

this is unacceptable.

by superb on Nov 5, 2009 4:55 PM EST reply actions

by Whoop dee damn doo on Nov 5, 2009 5:09 PM EST reply actions

A groin injury is the worst thing to play through. I can understand his caution.

Besides why would he hurry to get back, why not heal 100%?

Next thing you know he comes back and starts winning a few games here and there and y’all will start complaining how we are winning too much and we need to get #1 pick!

by SIC on Nov 5, 2009 5:31 PM EST reply actions

wow we r gonna have no scoring at all over the next few weeks, and no way we r gonna beat phily without cdr. lee can’t shoot for his life, alston can’t shoot, and lopez is only ok player on team. oh well here comes the draft. and devin does not want to leave team. why would he want to do that we have alot of young talented player….

by matt on Nov 5, 2009 5:31 PM EST reply actions

Thank God we didn’t trade our first round pick like the Knicks.

by Chris2 on Nov 5, 2009 5:33 PM EST reply actions

im fine with being awful this season…lottery pick are nice…plus don’t give me the BS that players won’t come to the nets if they play bad this season…its all about the money and where we are at..if you’re team is capable of adding two all star callibar players you are going in the right direction…plus ad the picks too….once we are in brooklyn we will attract free agents eventaully anyway….i’ve been a nets fan since they had coleman, anderson and petro and have seen some awful years…but this isn’t going to be one of them because it’s only the first step in making a great team.

GO NETS!

by ChrisGNetfan on Nov 5, 2009 5:55 PM EST reply actions

by Tim on Nov 5, 2009 6:01 PM EST reply actions

Have you ever tried to do everything you can to stop yourself from fallin?
It feels like slow motion
That’s what this season is gonna be like
I’m really not liking courtney lee
Its not that his shot is off
He is settling for the jumper like he is VC
Let CDR play with a mask on he will score more than Lee!
I still believe the Nets can win Friday
Philly doesn’t play D and they have no shooters

by djheavyduty on Nov 5, 2009 6:18 PM EST reply actions

“Philly doesn’t play D and they have no shooters”

It’s only an advantage if we , the Nets, do do those things, LOL!

by biggie on Nov 5, 2009 6:26 PM EST reply actions

Maybe Jose Reyes can answer that after being on constant day to day, which wound up being the remainder of season.

by Tal Barzilai on Nov 5, 2009 6:36 PM EST reply actions

Should have traded this constantly injured bum while we had a chance last year. His value was the highest it ever will be. He is a brainless, injury prone ballhog

by Ted on Nov 5, 2009 6:40 PM EST reply actions

Nets looking good in the John Wall sweepstakes.

by mt57 on Nov 5, 2009 6:45 PM EST reply actions

@ djheavyduty

Yeah… a “shooting” guard taking outside shots… I HATE when that happens! Lee should be ashamed of himself!

by Tim on Nov 5, 2009 6:51 PM EST reply actions

@ djheavyduty – Courtney Lee will drop 50 on the Sixers because you talked ill of him. He is extremely motivated by such criticism.

by diehardNFFLbarnone on Nov 5, 2009 6:51 PM EST reply actions

at least the nets are treating it right by keeping him from gettin others sick. we cant afford more people to go down.

all on lee, twill and lopez tomorrow. could get ugly again. twill will continue his play and lopez will hopefully just stay healthy. this is ridiculous – i dunno if i’ve ever seen a team this depleted this early in the year.

by k on Nov 5, 2009 6:52 PM EST reply actions

@ mt57 – Agree the Nets are looking good in the John Wall sweepstakes.

by diehardNFFLbarnone on Nov 5, 2009 6:53 PM EST reply actions

John Wall is the biggest chucker/ball hog I have seen in a while! I DONT GET YOU GUYS!!!

by Tim on Nov 5, 2009 6:53 PM EST reply actions

@ Ted – why do you hate on Devin Harris so much? You are almost as bad as all the people who question Courtney Lee.

by diehardNFFLbarnone on Nov 5, 2009 7:08 PM EST reply actions

@ Tim – Since when did John Wall become a ball hog or chucker? There is no other scoring on that Kentucky Wildcats team.

by diehardNFFLbarnone on Nov 5, 2009 7:10 PM EST reply actions

There’s no other scoring on the nets yet he is labeled the same.

Go watch any youtube video of this kid. He takes the shot even when its a 2 on none fast break! At least Devin dishes 2 on nones!

by Tim on Nov 5, 2009 7:18 PM EST reply actions

@ twillsboy – the game is in Philadelphia. The Sixers players will just walk to the game if necessary.

by diehardNFFLbarnone on Nov 5, 2009 7:45 PM EST reply actions

CDR is my dawg straight up
To hold Melo under 10pts in a half is great
To make Melo shoot 6-24 is bananas
Melo scored 23 CDR 19
Incredible for a 2nd yr 2nd round draft pick
Seriously people you gotta watch the 1st half of last nights game
The Nets played good despite injuries and bad shooting (Lee)
Kenyon Martin hit 2 3pointers when have you EVER seen that
TWill is nice for a rookie
Give me CDR TWill as my starting backcourt anyday!

by djheavyduty on Nov 5, 2009 8:19 PM EST reply actions

@diehardNFFLbarnone – if what you say is true then lets criticize him always

It was Frank developing KMarts game, 3 point shooting, that got Frank promoted to head coach. He does not get enough credit for being a great teacher of the game.

I admit I’m saying this without any concrete proof whatsoever, but something in my gut tells me Harris is tanking it. His aloofness on the court probably carries over to the training room.

by A.M. on Nov 5, 2009 10:44 PM EST reply actions

If we are tanking, its waaay overdue. This is Karma for taking 3 years to re-tool, re-build, however the word was spun.

Mike, you are a genius for that one. Perfectly said.

by KJV on Nov 6, 2009 12:51 AM EST reply actions

Most Nets players are injury prone.

Dooling, Hayes, Simmons, Boone, Harris, Yi, Battie, Alston, Douglas-Roberts and Najera have all lost significant time to injuries the last several years. Harris and Yi can be guaranteed to miss 15-to-20 games a year. Hayes, Alston, Boone, Najera, Dooling have missed more than a third of their team’s games at least once in their careers. Dooling has missed 20 or more games four times. Simmons missed a whole season. CDR lost half a season.

The reality is that IF Prokhorov becomes team owner, he should clean house, period. And if Prokhorov/Brooklyn falls through, I hope they move out of the area. Tired of the frustration of being a Nets fan. End it, put a stake through its heart.

by Net Income on Nov 6, 2009 4:37 AM EST reply actions

I’d be perfectly OK to trade Harris at the end of the season.. Can the guy stay on the court?? What are we going to have 7 players suit up for the game tonight? I KNOW I won’t be watching this inevitable disaster.

by Tom on Nov 6, 2009 6:52 AM EST reply actions

Proky will clean house. Start with the stick boy YI. To skinney to play PF in NBA. Gets shoved around and gets hurt. Need a man in that spot.
