"Steady Play" Puts CDR on Hollinger's "All-Underrated"

It wasn't that long ago that John Hollinger picked Devin Harris out of the Mavs' lineup and suggested he was among the NBA's most underrated. Now, he thinks Harris' current teammate, Chris Douglas-Roberts, deserves recognition, saying his "steady play has been lost in his team's struggles". And judging by CDR's college career, Hollinger writes "his strong start seems likely to last".

@ ChrisGNetFan – I still think he should come off the bench once Devin Harris returns to full strength.

Last year i didnt like cdr because he looked unintersted and often yawned on the court…but he is the man and has lotta heart. maybe he was annoyed because of injuries last season and because frank didnt get him involved. i remember him being a three point line camper..

Man CDR has been puttin up more then just “steady play” he’s playing like he wants 2 be a star. and no, ur not buggin out hollinger did write something nice about CDR

Stop with the nonsense him coming off the bench. A player who puts up these type of #‘s don’t deserve to come off the bench my god!

CDR can play. 2nd in sophomore scoring behind the injured Gordon. He seems like a 20 point scorer to me.

@Mikee
I completely agree. It’s almost as if CDR’s soon-to-be unstoppable offense is holding him back from being a starter. We got really young players in this roster, and there are no gimmes for starting spot. Harris is already established, but right after him it’s Lopez and CDR.

CDR is getting national recognition for playing his tail off, and yet we have Nets fans on the message board tossing him under the bus. It’s downright pathetic.

CDR aka Fresh is the real deal man.
career 54% shooter at Memphis(before Rose too)
He’s a small Paul Pierce able to play 2 or 3 positions
Missing the FTs in the championship did not bring this guy down.
Funny how the Nets really need Ryan Anderson right now
and dont need Courtney Lee
Thanks Thorn

Thorn better makes sure CDR is motivated to be a Net after next season. If this losing culture keeps on growing, I don’t think anyone will want to stick around, let alone building a championship team.

It’s hard to imagine that there are still posters here who constantly try to discredit CDR instead of celebrating his obvious dedication to the Nets team and organization. They are what CDR aptly calls “haters”.
Just know that there are still those of us (a growing majority?) who are glad CDR is on this team and playing like his life depends on it! We fans have in CDR what we deserve – a player who is fiercely competitive, hardworking and skilled. Go CDR!! GO NETS!!

Trade Lee while he still has value. Do not need or want him.
by Tom F on Nov 24, 2009 8:40 PM EST reply actions
lol give lee some time, only 13 games have past.
by The Black Prince on Nov 24, 2009 8:42 PM EST reply actions
@Andy
It’s thoroughly bizarre that the first comment of this CDR fan is not about the report or about pride in his success, but an attack. It is also thoroughy insecure.

Lee has potential. Give him time, let him develop over the summer, get stronger and more aggresive… see how he improves, detrmine his value as a bench player or starter, and then decide if he should be traded or if can be a signifcant piece that contributes and helps the organization

I havent heard anyone hate on CDR here. He is playing great. If you think he should come off the bench, that is not as insult. Its dependant on the makeup of your team. Geez, Ginobli comes off the bench and has for years. He was still the Spurs’ second most valuable player when they won the titles. And Lee is a very good young player. Even though he was slumping while healthy, he was playing great defense and I was impressed with the way he was getting to the line a lot.

I like CDR as a starter personally..but it wouldn’t be the end of the world if he was coming off the bench…as long as he is finishing games im cool with it

@ Tom F – I hope and pray you were not drinking when you wrote that!

I really don’t understand the hate on Chris.
He’s so real. He works and it’s paying off. He’s definitely part of the solution.

@ djheavyduty – I hope that was sarcasm and you didn’t really mean what you wrote.

The games coming on, i hope we can pull this off…

Chris2 has it absolutely right. In my opinion, the fact that he so obviously considers being a reserve as an insult makes him appear selfish and unlikable. And it is unfortunate, because he seems like a pretty good guy, kind of soft-spoken.
It’s the coach’s job to put every player in a position to succeed, and in the role that is most likely to lead to team-wide success. And for Chris, that very well may be coming off the bench. I personally can’t say one way or the other, because I don’t have the expertise to evaluate talent on that level, and don’t attend any practices. But the fact that he is so resistant to such an idea makes Chris seem self-absorbed. I am a Nets fan. I want the team to succeed. I don’t give who individually plays well, so long as the team competes as a unit and is successful. To CDR, that makes me a hater. And, as a Net fan who has sat through this mess, it makes me pretty sad to be labeled that way.

Very happy for CDR and I hope he keepis it up. We could have had Landry this past summer for loose change.

Chris Douglas-Roberts it not looking for any sympathy. He is a solid Detroit Basketball player. As far as being on Mr. Hollinger’s underrated team. Big deal this a typical sports writer having nothing to right about. C.Douglas Roberts is in his second with very little playing time from his first year. He grew and watch while we dealt with the V.Carter show for the year. He and D.Harris should be our starting backcourt tandem for the next seven years as we move into Brooklyn and win a few championships. Do you know how hard it is to find two high character guys with talent and heart? Well they have it aand we have Rod/Kiki to thank for bringing them in.
GO BROOKLYN NETS! GO BROOKLYN NETS! GO BROOKLYN NETS!
