Lopez, Lee, Harris All Available vs. Nuggets

Holy training table! Brook Lopez won't miss any time and Courtney Lee will play vs. the Nuggets Tuesday night. The news means Lawrence Frank will have TEN players available for the first time in a couple of weeks and Tony Battie appears close. Lee will come off the bench vs. the Nuggets, as will Harris. Meanwhile, Kenyon Martin let it be known who he thinks screwed up the Nets: the boss, Bruce Ratner.

Good news, with Harris and Lee available that will give Frank an opportunity to get more time for Hassel and Simmons at the 4. Kenyon and Birdman are shaking in their booties.

win today?…

by Andy on Nov 24, 2009 4:15 PM EST reply actions

not likely, but at least we’re beginning to resemble a team.

@ Andy,

Are you kidding me???

by Mr. Dollar Bills on Nov 24, 2009 4:19 PM EST reply actions

I think the basketball gods will shine on us today. We played the nuggets tough the last time we faced them and then CDR started to get swine. Now we have Harris back. Frank lost his first 13 games and now I think he will get us a win

A “W” away against the Nuggets? Get outta here!
The Nets will surely avoid 0-17,true that, but that won’t happen today. Let it happen against the Kings! Other than that, welcome 0-20 and stuff.

by Gyniko on Nov 24, 2009 4:27 PM EST reply actions

Now lets hope he puts in Harris, Lee, Terence and Boone all at the same time.

by Ast on Nov 24, 2009 4:30 PM EST reply actions

LOL Holy Training Table hahaha

I love Kenyon Martin, and he could very well be right. The Nets would probably be in Newark right now with a very different ball club.

Who cares? It is all about BK today!

Hollah!

by Shawn Carter on Nov 24, 2009 4:34 PM EST reply actions

Now we have a real team and will win some games, but that wont start tonight.

by Kevin on Nov 24, 2009 4:35 PM EST reply actions

At some point in the game I could see Lawrence using this line up
pg Alston
sg Harris
sf. Cdr
pf CLee
c. Simmons

I don’t know why. I just have a feeling

by Dan the Fan on Nov 24, 2009 4:36 PM EST reply actions

It’s about time, look for lopez 2 have good game because of harris. and look 4 harris to have a good game lol. Lee might not do much, but at least we have a spot up three piont shooter in him.

Is Earl Boykins still around ?
LFrank is still looking for a Power Forward.

Seriously though. Lawrence. Focus on the word "Power " Forward

by Dan the Fan on Nov 24, 2009 4:42 PM EST reply actions

The Nets were absolutely right when they traded kmart. Definately not worth a MAX deal. When he left he was a 15 pts 8 reb per game guy and he STILL is. With all of his injurues and the lack of any growth in his skills he should be happy the Nets did him a favor by working a sign and trade deal for him so he could get what he was OBVIOUSLY looking for… MONEY.

by Kevin on Nov 24, 2009 4:44 PM EST reply actions

@ Dan the Fan

With that lineup he’s really looking forward to Dooling playing center to matchup.

@ Kevin

2 title appearances with him. A conference final with Denver and on top this year. Does the word DEFENSE mean anything to you? And do you know how you reward Defensive winners…MONEY!

by Mr. Big on Nov 24, 2009 4:53 PM EST reply actions

@ Mr Big
I had no idea Bruce Bowen is worthy of a MAX contract.

Defense is ONE part of the game. He should be paid but NOT a MAX contract like kmart got.

A GREAT player he ISN’T. It is no crime to “ONLY” be VERY GOOD

by Kevin on Nov 24, 2009 5:00 PM EST reply actions

Also hate to break to you, bros, but it ain’t like Courtney Lee has shown up for the Nets so far this season. He wants to be back in Orlando with Vince.

Hollah!

by Shawn Carter on Nov 24, 2009 5:03 PM EST reply actions

@ Kevin

Bad example. Bowen wasn’t a leader of the team, and was never an all-star. Kenyon was both.

I think a good example would be…Dikembe, back in the day maybe? He was the centerpiece on defense, not exactly a great offensive player…sounds about right to me

Kenyon Martin has missed nearly two full seasons worth of games since leaving the Nets—148 games last time I checked. Seven years at $92.5 million. That’s what got Kiki fired in Denver.

And he ain’t 15 and 8 in Denver. He hasn’t done 15 and 8 since he left the Nets. He’s at 10.6 and 7.0 this season.

by Net Income on Nov 24, 2009 5:08 PM EST reply actions

I love these reporters. How long has it been since K-mart left? Yeah Ratner isnt the greatest owner but was K-mart worth all that money he got? No! Was he worth the Nets offer? I would have excepted that. Lets just say we did match K-mart’s deal, That deal would have been a fish bone stuck in our throats. Please he was a biatch that turned on a team mate. I am not surprised that he is blaming someone.

by SIC on Nov 24, 2009 5:15 PM EST reply actions

Harris and Lopez really need to be on the floor together. Just start Devin for crying out loud!

And I miss Kmart, Y’all should go on youtube and search for “Kenyon Martin New Jersey Nets.” I nearly started crying. That was the most fun I have ever had watching basketball, by FAR.

by Tim on Nov 24, 2009 5:16 PM EST reply actions

@ ppoppa

Dikembe wasn’t the winner like K-Mart but didn’t have the team like K-Mart did either.

@NI

For the 100th time when K-Mart signed to you think Kiki was that dumb to give a max contract to an injured player or was it bad luck? You keep writing about pts and rebs and I’ll write about defense and wins.

by Mr. Big on Nov 24, 2009 5:18 PM EST reply actions

Trading Martin was not the problem. Problem was having three almost max contracts and that with no big in there. That leaves little money for other players. That’s what happened to Nets.

I hope they will not do the same mistake again in next year. Otherwise first one to loose is Lopez to free agency in couple of years. If CDR continues to score the way he scores now, he also would demand lot of money. We’ll be in a mess again. Don’t forget that we’ll have a high draft pick next year too.

by Tony on Nov 24, 2009 5:19 PM EST reply actions

Wake Up Everybody!!
The starting backcourt should be for the next five years as follows:
PG/D.Harris SG/C.D.-Roberts
Two tall, fast, quick and solid defensive players.
How hard is to understand this?

I believe he signed with the Wizards.

by Vinsanity on Nov 24, 2009 5:25 PM EST reply actions

@ Dan the Fan and @Vinsanity. Boykins would work. Frank likes his 4s to the shorter the better. Can beat eye level

by netsnuts on Nov 24, 2009 5:36 PM EST reply actions

Oh one other thought.
We also have a starting center for the first time in team history.
B.Lopez for the next ten years.
M.Gimenski was OK but no true dominant big man to fear on defense.
C.Lee should be in the second unit and the main go to guy for scoring and balance with the first ten players.
K.Dooling running the second unit when healthy.
T.Williams playing defense and some scoring.
Yi.Jianlian playing PF and growing with the second unit.
T.Battie at center taking space and rebounding.

by Dziedzic on Nov 24, 2009 5:36 PM EST reply actions

Why is Harris still coming off the bench????

Put him in the starting lineup instead of bringing him in when we are already down 15-0.

Lawrence Frank needs to go!!!!

by femdig on Nov 24, 2009 5:38 PM EST reply actions

@Mr. Big
The season before KMart signed with Denver, he missed 17 games due to tendenitis, a degenerative condition, in the same knee where he needed microfracture surgery. It’s not as if his knee wasn’t an issue. It was. Kiki took a chance. He got fired for it…well that and taking a similar chance on Nene and oh yeah, thinking he could get away without spending money on a shooting guard that same summer. He had some bad luck with injuries, but the Nuggets will be paying a 35 year old Kenyon Martin $16+ million next season. That’s clearly nuts, not bad luck.

Let’s go boys, this streak isn’t the way I want my team to go down in history

by MoMo on Nov 24, 2009 6:08 PM EST reply actions

@ Dziedzic – If I was coach on the trip out West:

Starting PG: Devin Harris – Backup: Rafer Alston – 3rd String: Terrence Williams
Starting SG: Courtney Lee – Backup: Terrence Williams – 3rd String: Trenton Hassell
Starting SF: Trenton Hassell – Backup: Chris Douglas-Roberts – 3rd String: Bobby Simmons
Starting PF: Sean Williams – Backup: Eduardo Najera – 3rd String: Tony Battie
Starting C: Brook Lopez – Backup: Tony Battie – 3rd String: Sean Williams

wow, you guys just mentioned our lineups, you know that possible second unit of Dooling, Lee, Twill, Yi, and Battie is a REALLY good second unit… It will never happen but it sounds like music to my ears.

by Tim on Nov 24, 2009 6:19 PM EST reply actions

Lets get a win tonight! Play Sean more than 15 min.

Oh, really? In what league? NCAA, NJSHIAA??

Hollah!

by Shawn Carter on Nov 24, 2009 6:32 PM EST reply actions

@ JustinNJ

That depends on how well Sean stays out of foul trouble.

If he plays the way he’s played in the last few games, I don’t see that happening.

by ppoppa on Nov 24, 2009 6:34 PM EST reply actions

I miss K-Mart, he was so great as a Net, not a great player like Kobe or Lebron. But I loved him on the Nets.

Glad the Nets are starting to get better little and little lets Beat Kenyon and dedicate the game to him lol

by Julia on Nov 24, 2009 6:39 PM EST reply actions

@ NI

You think Denver coming off a conference title game with a 33 year old K-Mart & Nene, now 8-4 with a 34 year old K-Mart and Nene are worried about a 35 year old K-Mart & Nene. Don’t get me wrong it’s always risky but I rather take a chance with winners than spend 4 mil on a bust like Yi. Players like K-Mart are a neddle in a hay stack. Players like Yi you could find in the NBDL. Also I think Ratner didn’t want to pay K-Mart cuz he wanted to cut costs.

LETS GET THIS WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol…i can dream right??

by The Black Prince on Nov 24, 2009 6:55 PM EST reply actions

Listen any team is capable of beating any team. No team is unbeatable that’s the truth. So yes the Nets could get a win tonight if they really want too.

by mikee21 on Nov 24, 2009 7:02 PM EST reply actions

@Shawn Carter

Well, Dooling is one of the best back up PG’s in the league. If you don’t think so, you never watched him play last year. You know what, Andre Miller is starting now, so I am going to say Dooling IS the best back up PG in the NBA.

Lee played on the Magic last year, as a lock down defender on Kobe. That’s a good back up no? I would rank him pretty high also. Obviously no Manu, or JR Smith. Jamal Crawford is more of a 2 also.

Terrence is a great player, who just needs to get his FG% up, thats about it. When that comes around, Ill take him as a backup 3.

Yi is a good backup 4. We don’t need to discuss that.

Battie is just a guy who gets the job done. Think of all the “back up” centers in the league… especially when half the teams literally don’t even have back up centers, and they play PF’s.

SO yes.. that’s a “really good” second unit in my mind. The problem is, there are 3 guys in the starting unit that could be interchangeable with the second unit, that doesn’t discredit that second unit though!

by Tim on Nov 24, 2009 7:04 PM EST reply actions

Mikee21 is right…we can most defnitey get a win today if we want it bad enough. I hope CDR has another career night and i hope devin harris explodes ths game.

by The Black Prince on Nov 24, 2009 7:53 PM EST reply actions

Man, we can’t have it both ways: it was Kiki that signed K-Mart, so was Kiki a bad GM or was Ratner a bad boss? I am worried about Kiki next year. He is very good at tearing it down, but he is not so good at the building up. He has too much hope in Yi, which is ridiculous, given how Yi plays, and he makes bad signs. He would never have gotten Billups which is what makes them a contender, but he would go out and overpay for a K-Mart. Did he get Iverson? I worry what he’ll do with the money we have next year. Let’s hope Thorn is in control.

by joe on Nov 24, 2009 7:56 PM EST reply actions

@ joe – Iverson came to the Nuggets in a trade.
