Game 14 - Nets @ Nuggets - Tuesday, November 24, 9:00

It's not just the beginning of the annual Thanksgiving road trip. It's the beginning of the Lawrence Frank Death Watch. Frank's career as Nets coach is believed to be on the line. With an 0-13 record, and the record for worst NBA start ever looming, word is that unless he can win at least one of four road games, he's gone. It's not helpful that Brook Lopez sprained his ankle or that Denver is 5-0 at home.

Death Watch is the wrong phrase here…

Perhaps Swat can get a few pointers from KMart
a good player to emulate

Hopefully Swat can learn some things playing against Chris Andersen and KMart… My highest hopes for him are to turn out like Andersen… Troubled start, but comes back as a great bench guy, grows a Mohawk, blocks a shot or two, has some crazy dunks, flaps his arms then sits back down. Except Sean’s gotta pick his own animal since Birdman’s taken.

… Oh, and my other hope is that he has ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO GO INTO A CELL PHONE STORE WHILE IN DENVER.

LOL good point mo… You said it in the time it took me to type all that on my phone…

Have any sources at all been cited as to where this ‘word’ is coming from?

We took a dive into the dark, hapless pits of hell when we traded away Kmart. Here we are, going on 0-15, etched in people’s minds as the worst team in NBA history. What a curse, what a curse! I say this team better give it everything they got or y’all get a face transplant and move to Antartica.

Denver, Sacramento, Portland, Lakers.
Sacramento is a possibility.
The rest are losses.
0-17 or 1-16, does it really make a difference?

Kmart and Frank are close. Maybe he takes the night off.

by A.M. on Nov 23, 2009 8:52 PM EST reply actions

if we fire frank, what are are options? I say we make Kiki our coach.. we know he won’t hurt the development of our young guys unlike a strict coach like avery johnson.

and 1-16 keeps Frank’s job alive, 0-17, and in my opininon, his long tenure in Jersey is over…

Is Lopez playing tonight? I heard on the radio he’s day-to-day.

it’s ‘historic’ in this case, not ‘historical.’ al iannazzone is a poor excuse for a writer, especially compared to dave

by boki on Nov 24, 2009 9:48 AM EST reply actions

So if we are 1-16 he’s still the head coach, but if we are 0-17 he’s fired. How dumb is that? What’s the difference? Fire him either way. Like getting 1 win actually proves anything.

@boki
Yea.. Iannazone’s not the best writer.. but it seems like he works hard and puts a lot of information out there. He wrote that Dooling had to stand by CDR’s side during a postgame interview, so he wouldn’t say the wrong thing. CDR actually denied (in his recent twitter comments) that he needed anyone’s advice when dealing with the media, but it was interesting fodder none the less.

Dave D is at the top when it comes to NBA beat writers.

by pawley on Nov 24, 2009 11:33 AM EST reply actions

Echo pawley’s comments: Dave D is terrific.

Note: Nets tend to do well on the road, IMO, because they don’t have the disappointment of an empty home arena. They will win one on this trip.
