Lopez Sprains Ankle...No X-Rays Required

Brook Lopez has played in every game in his Nets career--all 95 of the them. He doesn't want that streak to end. So, after spraining his right ankle Monday at practice, he joked, "watching film hurt a lot more." No x-rays were needed, but Lawrence Frank lists him and Courtney Lee (who suited up vs. the Knicks) as "day-to-day". Lee, he said, certainly wants to play but if he does vs. Denver, it will be off the bench.

I guess T-Will will be playing center. LOL

Sit Brook to make sure that he doesn’t hurt himself. He is probably our most valuable asset. Don’t screw around with his health and well being. Sit him till he is 100%. Don’t be stupid with him. Let him at least sit versus Portland. They are going to kill us anyway. Save him for Sacremento, our next chance at a win.

by Paul Erstein on Nov 23, 2009 1:36 PM EST reply actions

Maybe we should T-Will, CDR and Harris also. Save them for next season.

Is Shawn Bradley available?

Hollah!

Every starter gets Hurt.

Hollah !

Is there any reason Chris Mihm remains unsigned? I have always thought he was one of the more effective backup centers in the league. I know he was hurt last season, but if he is healthy, he may be worth considering.

by Chris2 on Nov 23, 2009 2:10 PM EST reply actions

Maybe we get to forfeit a couple of games. They would then have to put an asterisk next to our record losing streak.

by Mike on Nov 23, 2009 2:18 PM EST reply actions

This was the last thing we needed. Lopez got hurt!!!

We are almost as worst start in NBA history team!

:D :( :) im feeling a rush of emotions right now

:P btw

by mr. omG on Nov 23, 2009 2:23 PM EST reply actions

Wow. This is terrible. Worse than the Yi news. He’s the one player I had faith in not to get hurt.

by ppoppa on Nov 23, 2009 2:29 PM EST reply actions

i cant think of anyway to explain this but cosmically:

the draft gods are here to save us and the free agent gods are here to bring us to our demise.

by NJQuestCat on Nov 23, 2009 2:30 PM EST reply actions

Well it’s not surprising you get hurt when you’re suddenly playing like 40+ mins a game. I guess letting Sean sit on the bench at times when he was capable of playing at least 10 mins just to give Brook a breather was worth it. Hope Lopez is ok though, last thing we need is Lopez or CDR out for a long period.

by TheMann on Nov 23, 2009 2:33 PM EST reply actions

Look at the bright side. Opie gets to play real small ball now. And we all know what a master mixer and matcher he is. Oh God, why couldn’t I have been born a hockey fan.

by Mike on Nov 23, 2009 2:37 PM EST reply actions

We definitely have to sit him. He might be the one player I do not mess with.

by MoMo on Nov 23, 2009 4:18 PM EST reply actions

I’m from sac and I will say this…the nets will not beat sac!! no it will not be your best chance at a win. ps- im on here to make sure lopez is healthy enough for my fantasy team.

by Glenn on Nov 23, 2009 4:40 PM EST reply actions

And now starting at center for your New Jersey Nets… Sean Williams… kinda ironic ain’t it?

by NetRick on Nov 23, 2009 4:55 PM EST reply actions

How about bringing Chocolate Thunder out of retierment? We could play the rest of the season on planet Lovetron. Oh Baby!

by NetRick on Nov 23, 2009 4:57 PM EST reply actions

@ TheMann

Aha! How foolish of me in not immediately realizing that Brook’s injury in practice is due to LF playing too many minutes.

@ Mike, et al.

Enough with “Opie” already. You want him gone. We get it. But “Opie”,“Larry”, "Little General and “Short Frank” just make you sound more bitter than informed. If you want to slam him, at least be creative.

by Smack Adams on Nov 23, 2009 5:39 PM EST reply actions

Is it me or has there been an abundance of injuries in the entire NBA? Every team has had some serious injuries – Chris Paul, Paul Gasol, Tony Parker, many many more. What’s going on? Is there a reason for it? Any thoughts out there?

by Joanne on Nov 23, 2009 6:21 PM EST reply actions

I was thinking the same thing, Joanne, so I consulted an epidemiologist. His expert opinion was that I should stop wasting his time.

My best guess is that this is just bad luck. Or a bad case of the galloping cooties. Am leaning toward the former. There’d be no bell curve without extremes in one direction or the other. If only there were an epidemic of lopsided trades in the Nets’ favor…

Can’t be worse, can it?

Hollah!

by Shawn Carter on Nov 23, 2009 6:37 PM EST reply actions

Shawn. As long as we’re at it, I wouldn’t mind seeing if World B. Free has still got game.

by Smack Adams on Nov 23, 2009 6:39 PM EST reply actions

This is rediculous what else can go wrong?
I have pledged to not cut my hair until the Nets win a game.

anyone else catch this in Al’s article?

“Of course Lee is day-to-day according to the coach, who is day-to-day himself.”

hahaha wow, low blow

by Angelo on Nov 23, 2009 6:45 PM EST reply actions

The NBA should fire The Rat, Kiki and Thorn for what they have done to the Nets.

D. Stern, are you listening?

Hollah!

by Shawn Carter on Nov 23, 2009 7:22 PM EST reply actions

I once played center on the Meadowlands floor a long time ago. Where do I sign up? :)
