T-Will May Start for Simmons

Bobby Simmons' flight back from Chicago (where he was dealing with personal business) was delayed, so Terrence Williams may get his first career start Wednesday night against the Sixers. Either way, the Nets will have eight guys in uniform again. It's still unknown if Courtney Lee or Chris Douglas-Roberts will be able to return for the back-to-back in Orlando and Miami starting Friday night.

Bobby Simmons initials are B.S. Coincidence?

I hope T-Will has a great game and Frank decides to keep him in the starting line up. Only problem is who going to be backup PG?. That is why T-Will probably won’t start.

So he wanted to go see the the Bulls-Nuggets game. Give the man a break.

How about Magic Johnson? Is he available?/

Yes, the second coming of Magic Johnson is in the house and he may start tonight.

I would rather Twill start with a vet, and then Alston come off the bench.

by T on Nov 11, 2009 2:11 PM EST reply actions

Start him at SF and LEAVE HIM THERE.

by Mr. Dollar Bills on Nov 11, 2009 2:13 PM EST reply actions

Is that folding chair still available?

by Trenton on Nov 11, 2009 2:58 PM EST reply actions

yeah its kool that he’s starting but who’s going to back up pg?

i hate to say it but simmons kinda needs to start…thats was painful.

by Andy on Nov 11, 2009 2:58 PM EST reply actions

The folding chair got hurt, some sort of leg injury…

by Mike on Nov 11, 2009 3:04 PM EST reply actions

Come on, make some sense! Starting at SF or SG does not mean that player cannot backup some time at PG. Alston played over 40 mins last game. Don’t make it an issue that wasn’t really one! TWill has been second string, and Frank SOMEHOW promoted the third string to start over TWILL and ACTUALLY, AMAZINGLY, COUNTERINTUITIVELY played MORE!!!
Ridiculous! TWill can play 40 mins more so than anyone. He should start at SF/SG (well deserved) for 36 mins, and back up Alston for 6-8 mins. He shouldn’t be playing less than Simmons.
Just because someone is useful off the bench doesn’t mean a useless player should start the game.

by biggie on Nov 11, 2009 3:11 PM EST reply actions

yeah ur right my bad.

by Andy on Nov 11, 2009 3:17 PM EST reply actions

T-Will should start at small forward AND shooting guard!

by Dirt on Nov 11, 2009 3:23 PM EST reply actions

Can’t be running down T-Will this early in the season. All we need is another injury. Forty minutes for a rookie is kind of forcing it.

by Mike on Nov 11, 2009 3:28 PM EST reply actions

But he’s so muscley.

by Dirt on Nov 11, 2009 3:31 PM EST reply actions

O.K. Let T-Will play PG coming up the court and then he can play SF on defense. At midcourt he can help out Ian Eagle and Fratello with the color analyst spot, if he isn’t to busy. During timeouts and halftime he can team up with Sly. After the game he can help you to your car.

by Mike on Nov 11, 2009 3:44 PM EST reply actions

Ok, what is the scientific background behind the concern about TWill playing 40+ but not Alston? Rookie is rookie by experience, not by physicality and endurance. Do you think TWill is a puppy? For all I care, he can start 30 mins at SG/SF, and then back up Alston for 6-8 mins. The bottom line is TWill with his versatility and physicality should play MORE than Simmons.

by biggie on Nov 11, 2009 4:04 PM EST reply actions

Don’t be afraid to take the Corvette out to run some errands. It’s hardly got any miles on it, there’s nary a scratch on her and she’s just been sitting in the garage waiting for her moment to carry the load.

by Dirt on Nov 11, 2009 4:09 PM EST reply actions

You ever hear of the “rookie wall”. College players don’t play that many minutes or games. Wear out T-Will in the first 30 games? Risk injury? I wouldn’t but I respect your opinion and understand your affection for T-Will and his immense talent.

by Mike on Nov 11, 2009 4:13 PM EST reply actions

What about Starbury? Is that the Answer?

Or is The Answer the answer?

Hollah!

by Shawn Carter on Nov 11, 2009 4:17 PM EST reply actions

I’m all for playing the rookies and get no enjoyment out of watching Simmons, Najera, Alston, Hassel etc. but you got to be very careful that you don’t break the young players down physically and probably more importantly, mentally. Maybe T-Will is a special case, but why take the chance. Give him his 30 minutes or so per game. Lee was playing a lot of minutes when he broke down, plus he was coming off an injury. I don’t trust Frank right now because his lame duck status might make him desperate for a win, regardless of the cost.

by Mike on Nov 11, 2009 4:20 PM EST reply actions

Starbury is the answer, if the question is; “What would be the stupidest suggestion on how to improve the Nets right now?”

by Mike on Nov 11, 2009 4:25 PM EST reply actions

Rookie wall is a phenomenon describing how a rookie’s performance reaches a pleateau over the course of a whole season. You can worry about that once Hayes and Dooling come back. It’s not something you think about for one or two games. I can already name a number of rookie players this and last year who had several of 35+min games. It’s not really a risk for a few games. People are seriously underestimating TWill’s physical readiness for the game. At this point, it’s not like Simmons’ decision making and basketball intelligence have been better than TWill, so I really do not understand how Simmons who’s been a clear-cut third string would actually play more than TWill.
Anyway, that’s the kind of decision I’ve grown used to in Frank’s era. Hopefully that era will end soon.

by biggie on Nov 11, 2009 4:28 PM EST reply actions

What rookie wall? Brook Lopez played 82 games last year (30 mpg) and just got better and better. ROY Rose averaged 37 minutes last season. Walls are for wimps. Real men just bust though ’em.

@ mike, love that comment… Starbury is a total loser.. as a person, as a man, and as a ball player…

by tu vieja on Nov 11, 2009 7:26 PM EST reply actions

it’s already 13-6. We lost were going 0-10. no way we beat heat or magic. i predict we will win 13-17 games.

by matt on Nov 11, 2009 7:50 PM EST reply actions

@ Dirt – I don’t even know how to respond to such an idea! You really think the officials would turn a blind eye to such a blatant violation of the rules?

by diehardNFFLbarnone on Nov 11, 2009 8:59 PM EST reply actions

t-will doesn’t get tired. i watched him play 37 plus min. a game for four years on a team that ran, while playing in the big east. yes, i know the nba is alot more physical but if he doesn’t have a body built for the nba i don’t know who does. he’s going to make his share of mistakes just from the way he plays the game. but believe me, give him time because once he gets settled in, he will fill up every spot on a stat sheet and become a machine night in and night out. he may not become lebron or kolby type superstar, but you guys have a special player in that kid.

by cardfan21 on Nov 11, 2009 9:25 PM EST reply actions

Simmons isnt my fav player, but I have to give him credit for some of the important 3’s he has made so far (not that that is any consellation for playing poorly most of the time). But just cuz I have to say it: Brook is the Man!

by TruNet715 on Nov 11, 2009 9:50 PM EST reply actions

P.S. Alston is impressive
