Game 8 - 76ers @ Nets - Wednesday, November 11, 7:30

It's only appropriate that the Nets will have only eight players available for Game 8. Actually, the Nets had only seven healthy bodies for Tuesday's practice. Bobby Simmons flew home to attend to a personal issue, but was expected back at night. Terrence Williams reported earlier Tuesday that he won't tweet until the Nets win.

T-Will won’t tweet until the Nets win…lol I find that funny.
But if the Nets play hard like how they played against Boston we should be able to pull off win. It might not be easy but at least you can see that they fight hard to win.

I say the Nets just play….no timeouts no strategy just loose selfish nba 2k10-all star-rookie-sophmore game type of play. That’ll give the fans something to enjoy

“None won more than 15 games”
What’s that suppose to mean?
Wow. 7 teams are in the running for the top pick. :)

I have a feeling that we might win this one. You know what they say, the 8th one is the charm.

@Dude
all time, seven teams started out 0-7…none won more than 15 games that season.
by Net Income on Nov 10, 2009 6:50 PM EST reply actions
That’s not correct. The ‘03-04 Heat (Wade’s rookie year) started 0-7, went 42-40 and even won a playoff round.
That link lists the worst teams in NBA history and their records after 7 games.

some reason i have a feeling that were gonna lose. everyone on the team is saying that their gonna win but remember we only have 8 players. we got lucky vs boston and WE NEVER HAVE A HOMECOURT ADVANTAGE ESPECIALLY ON THE WEEKDAYS! 0-8 here we come

The nets are only 3 games out of the 8th playoff spot in the east. That’s not that bad.

The 76ers stink. This may be our best chance for a win between now and game 15. Did you read the SI stuff about Lebron and Miami? Pat Riley is one of the savvy-est GMs in the league. It could happen!

No doubt we’ll get our first W tomorrow. About time.

Simmons flew home for personal issue?
Does “sucking” qualify as a personal issue? : x

This is the first home game against a non-elite team so I originally thought this could be win #1. It is less likely with the injuries but I will be there hoping for the best. Nets need a reliable scorer in the final 3 minutes, Harris, Hayes or Dooling. Winless streak playing without VC since trading for him is now 20 and counting.

Just imagine if the nets get the number one pick in next years draft..that would be sick.

@ jarkid
I am probably as big a fan of Jonh Wall as you are. But we need a PF badly.

0-8
1st pick
15-67 or 10-72
Same Lineup. Sigh :(
Not a great Free agent, if lebron doesnt come everyone will go for Nash, Bosh, Wade, Lee, Dirk, etc… and by the time LBJ says no thanks we wont sign decent names!!!
Same old Front office Sigh Sigh Sigh
Med staff blows
Proky wont buy once he knows our dump plan
0-8 tonight

@Dan
Derrick Favors could be the answer to our prayers.

Okay, can someone explain to me IF Frank is going to for some reason play Simmons and Hassell AGAIN MORE than Terrence Williams tonight? Doesn’t make sense to me. Terrence has been a steady force on both ends, which is something you couldn’t say about Simmons. I thought when the starters are injured, the second string player got the playing time, not the third string ones. Frank is ridiculous!

If we get the first overall pick, we could take Wall, trade Harris and hopefully Najera to a team with cap space for a cheap young talented player, then perhaps have enough cap space for 2 max contracts. We would be set up in a great great way if we can win that first overall pick.
by Chris2 on Nov 11, 2009 9:13 AM EST reply actions
As of now the gems in next years draft are john wall and derrick favors…i’ll take either. John wall is compared in derrick rose and favors to dwight.
by Andy on Nov 11, 2009 9:34 AM EST reply actions
By the time of next years draft, Wall and Favors might not be the #1 and #2 consensus picks. Even if they are, we have to get our injured players back and start winning some games. I don’t mind “honest” dumping but to hope your team loses just to get a top pick is borderline cheating, plus it makes no sense. If and when our young players get back together, and if they started winning, would you be upset if we ended up with the #12-20 overall pick? Number one picks don’t guarantee anything. I would rather have a good young team winning even if that means not getting the top picks. Imagine Harris, Lee, CDR, Lopez, Yi and T-Will jelling and winning games now. That would be great.
by Mike on Nov 11, 2009 9:56 AM EST reply actions
@ Mike
I agree with you that top picks don’t mean anything. Imo the reason, most of the time, teams are drafting high is the same reason they make bad choices in the draft, bad management. When you draft the issue is to draft the need versus the best player available. Assuming it comes down to Wall versus Favors to me it’s a no brainer. Why draft Wall when you have Harris. Another way to look at it is which player would improve the team more, Favors replacing Yi or Wall replacing Harris. Hopefully we’ve learned from the past that no matter how good your SF and guards are you can’t win without good defensive players in the front court. Unless we sign Amare (I don’t like Bosh) we’d have the same problem we have now. Also this draft is really deep with good big men. Davis (NC), Venardo (Miss St) and Aldrid (KS) come to mind. We don’t even need the top pick to find our PF.
by Mr. Big on Nov 11, 2009 10:49 AM EST reply actions
Let’s not forget the number one picks like Oden who get hurt and rarely play, or the busts like Kwame Brown and Olowakandi. The draft is always a crap shoot, just because a guy is a god in college doesnt mean he will always be great in the NBA. Some top picks turn out to be solid players, but not superstars. To lose games for the sole purpose of drafting #1-3 would be a gamble the Nets may lose. I’d rather try to win as much as possible and if we end up with the 10-15 pick so be it, besides we have the dallas pick and we could always try to bundle the 2 picks to move up in the draft anyway.
by TheMann on Nov 11, 2009 11:03 AM EST reply actions
can’t forget brackins and monroe also…so many pfs in next years draft. A top 3 is not needed, but it would be nice.

Evan Turner is possibly special too. But he is another wing player. Still, I have heard him compared to Brandon Roy.
by Chris2 on Nov 11, 2009 1:12 PM EST reply actions
Derrick Favors and Evan Turner are flat out studs.

Yep, and Rafer Alston came off the bench for that team as the 6th man. He just reminded me of it when he talked about seeing this before, and seeing the turnaround.
Unfortunately…I don’t see that happening for us.

okay, so far Boone is getting owned by Brand and Speights.
Really? The first big off the bench for a really good team?
