In a Land of Losers, Nets Are Not Alone

The ticker tape from the Yankees parade has been swept clean...and now local fans are stuck with a bunch of mediocre or worse teams to get them through the winter. George Vecsey of the Times laments that "New York teams aren't doing that well." Of the Nets, he writes, "they're still in their holding pen across the river in New Jersey, winless and close to homeless" and one of them even has swine flu.

“They think they’re so clever, they think they’re so right
But the truth is only known by guttersnipes”
I am tired of everybody putting down the Nets. Didn’t these guys ever play sports. You can’t always play for the winning team. Sometimes you have to be a man, and play on losing teams. I never respected athlete’s who want to go to a championship team just so they can easily cash in and claim they won their ring. Anybody can easily love a winner, but it takes someone special to love a loser. That’s why “real” Nets fans and “real” fans around the world will love their team, during good times just as well as the bad times. Lets go Nets…

Vescy better be carefull about what he is saying here. The last time he talked about how bad the Nets were, JKidd left in repsonse to that. The season isn’t even close to over, so stop claiming that it is. I have seen many teams do better later on despite starting so good. This is why I say it’s easy to be a Yankees when it’s hard to like the Mets.

\Who is he? The Nets have a home in
NEW JERSEY! They are in a better strategic position as a franchise to improve the team after this year then those New York Misfits! WE knew this was going to be a “retooling” year, but, ATLEAST we have our draft pick as a consolation prize.

I do agree on the fact that Vescy wants the Nets to move to Newark, but location doesn’t always equal championships. The Grizzlies still can’t seem to win a playoff game and that was despite playing in two arenas in Memphis. When a team does win a championship or makes the playoffs for the first time in a while after their first year in a new arena, it’s just a coincidence, not because of where they are playing, it was how they were as a team. I still think that it’s easy to be a Yankees fan only because they have the best team money can buy when that’s hardly ever the case for the Mets. BTW, please don’t make fun of the Mets because of their huge injuries from last season, because it’s sort of like making fun of a blind person for not being able to see.
