Yi Not on All-Star Ballot

Yi Jianlian received more than 1.8 million votes and finished third among Eastern Conference forwards in last season's All-Star balloting, ahead of Paul Pierce and Chris Bosh. But he's not on this season's ballot, which was unveiled Tuesday. The only Nets on the ballot are Devin Harris, Courtney Lee and Brook Lopez. Fans can still vote for Yi (or any other Nets) via the write-in process.

Still, he isnt a proven man. We all have seen it.

No one can be good and be inconsistent and soft as Yi

Well only T-mac i think but still (t-mac) is way too soft, not inconsistent went healthy.

BTW when did t-mac last played ?

A decade ago.

still the player who will earn the most money this season.

Good. Ups the chances of Brook making it.

by Accelerate on Nov 10, 2009 12:57 PM EST reply actions

Yi shouldn’t have been on the ballot last year

by JohnY on Nov 10, 2009 1:07 PM EST reply actions

DH won’t make this year. Brook has the best chance.

Hope Chinese don’t get offended and start voting in millions for Yi (write-ins)

by Tony on Nov 10, 2009 1:08 PM EST reply actions

China has billions of people… If even a small fraction of the population consists of basketball fans who would vote at least once during the entire NBA fan voting season… you would expect Yi or Yao to top 3,000,000 consistently.

Therefore, this whole “China votes in Yao and Yi” theory is just a bogus creation of a lazy imagination.

With the large Chinese AMERICAN population Houston, it is not a stretch to imagine Yao with such high numbers. But Yi? He won’t get voted in anyway…

by rightclue on Nov 10, 2009 1:10 PM EST reply actions

Lopez has no shot of being voted in.

by Kevin on Nov 10, 2009 1:20 PM EST reply actions

@ Kevin – Lopez will likely be picked as a backup, Lee maybe, Harris I don’t know about at this point.

by diehardNFFLbarnone on Nov 10, 2009 1:25 PM EST reply actions

Just got a paper cut from the ballet… Yi Yao that hurt!

by NetRick on Nov 10, 2009 1:28 PM EST reply actions

The only person with a chance of being an All Star is Brook. I don’t see Harris being an All Star again, nor do I see Lee and CDR playing well enough to be selected.

by LetsGoNets on Nov 10, 2009 1:41 PM EST reply actions

I bet this takes a lot of pressure off him

by Andy on Nov 10, 2009 1:44 PM EST reply actions

Lets just hope Yi comes back soon and plays well. He looked alot better before he got hurt. He probably will never please the majority of Nets fans but I think he can be a “good” player in this league. I bet if the Nets wanted to trade him right now, many teams would line up interested.

My all-star ballot may be the future of the Nets.

G – Devin Harris
G – Courtney Lee
F – LeBron James
F – Chris Bosh
C – Brook Lopez

Write-in
Chris Douglas-Roberts

It’s amazing how out of all the people in China and the popularity of the game there, they don’t produce better players. I’m sure the league and China would love to have a better representation of that country especially in the all-star game which is really a popularity contest. I wonder if they have a problem with the development of their players. Proky addressed that problem in Russia and it might be the same in China. I know I’d have Yi in the all-star game at SF if I was coaching the Nets. LOL.

by Mr. Big on Nov 10, 2009 2:46 PM EST reply actions

Why should he be on the ballot, he has not done anything

by Barry from Brooklyn on Nov 10, 2009 2:47 PM EST reply actions

Slim chance for Brook. There are only 2 center spots for All Star weekend and DH (not Devin Harris) will win the fan vote and if Shaq comes in 2nd, he might get the coaches’ votes. Brook’s day will come but not this year.

by John at the Jersey Shore on Nov 10, 2009 2:56 PM EST reply actions

Brook definitely wont make the All-Star squad, unless he plays out of his mind from this point on. So far he has been mediocre at best, he’s had maybe 2 good games and hes been turning the ball over in double teams or bricking wild shots. I’m sure he’ll be better when all the pressure is off of him, but so far it’s not happening.

by TheMann on Nov 10, 2009 4:13 PM EST reply actions

good that’s he’s not on the ballot. not much a fan of yi’s game but if he was on the ballot he would a been probably starting just because he’s the only Chinese player to b in it.

by tu vieja on Nov 10, 2009 4:25 PM EST reply actions

If only Kiki and Thorn had the sense to realize that a player has to DESERVE to start, we would not be in this mess. He is a mediocre player, at best.

by joe on Nov 10, 2009 5:01 PM EST reply actions

First, there are no billions in China. There’s just 1 billion.

Secondly Brook won’t make it. But DH will.

by Carlos on Nov 10, 2009 5:51 PM EST reply actions

@ Barry from Brooklyn

Just being a starter gets you close. Twenty-four forwards from the Eastern Conference appear on the ballot. That means only six starting forwards in the Eastern Conference didn’t make it. Having said that, I think it’s reasonable that Yi didn’t make it, and probably better for his continuing development not to have that added pressure.

ANY 1 of U Posters Dat Think C Lee SHOULD EVEN BE ON the BALLOT r INSANE…..That is the FUNNIEST Thing I’ve Seen So FAR THIS SEASON…C Lee HASN’T hit A Shot Since He was With The Magic.

by LETSGO#17 on Nov 10, 2009 7:26 PM EST reply actions

Why does this ballot come out so early in the season ?? What if the Nets win every game from here on in ?? Oh wait…They are not getting rid of frank , yet….I think that the only Nets that should be on are Brook and CDR…..

by NetFan48 on Nov 10, 2009 8:26 PM EST reply actions

@ TheMann
how on earth can you say that “Brook has benn mediocre at best?”
You have a second year center who is averaging 18pts 8rebs 2assts and 2blks a game, and you think he is mediocre at best?

by KJV on Nov 10, 2009 11:30 PM EST reply actions

@KJV
Yes. It’s easy to put up big numbers on a bad team, but look at him each game. Brook has been getting the ball stripped or forcing up horrible shots in the double teams. Like I said he’s had about 2 really good games this season, how many really good games have you seen from him? Dont get me wrong, I think he’ll continue to progress as the season goes on and everyone’s injuries heal, but right now he has been mediocre.

by TheMann on Nov 11, 2009 12:03 AM EST reply actions

yi sucks!!! cant stay in health

0-8

by mr. omG on Nov 11, 2009 5:46 AM EST reply actions

Honestly, no Nets deserve to be an All-Star at this point. I don’t think Lee should be on the ballot. Devin hasn’t shown anything yet. Brook is still green. He is good for a sophomore but all star? Not yet!! It’s good that Yi is off the ballot. He can improve quietly without being under the microscope. His time will come.

by bill on Nov 11, 2009 11:16 AM EST reply actions

@TheMann
"Brook has been mediocre at best" averaging 18/8 while “forcing up horrible shots in the double teams”, and shooting 55%.

I wish the whole team was that mediocre.

by John at the Jersey Shore on Nov 11, 2009 1:05 PM EST reply actions

since Courtney Lee on the ballot, why not Yi?

by Victor on Nov 11, 2009 3:01 PM EST reply actions

@ Victor – I think Stern or whoever prints up the ballots is starting to follow in the footsteps of Eisenhower or was it Kennedy by playing Russia and China off against each other for maximum advantage.

by diehardNFFLbarnone on Nov 11, 2009 4:01 PM EST reply actions

I am a Yi fan, but I think it’s better for him not be included in the All Star ballot this year!
It will take a ton of pressure for him and concentrate better in his games with the Nets!

by Anwaisa on Nov 11, 2009 4:12 PM EST reply actions

why is the ballot out so early anyway when there’s less than 10 games played? the game isn’t until Feb 14th. with the internet, internet capable phones, twitter, etc the ballot can come out in mid december and give lots of time for everyone to vote. then we can actually vote on who deserves to be there based upon stats.
