Williams Suffers Through Another Poor Game in D-League

Sean Williams had more personals than points in Thursday's D-League Showcase game, picking up five personals and scoring two points as his Colorado 14ers beat the Anaheim Arsenal, 118-112. Williams shot 1-for- 6 from the floor and missed a free throw. He grabbed six boards and blocked four shots in 18 minutes. The Arsenal's small forward, James "Flight" White, was the game's high scorer with 33.

man and it was the final day of showcasing…
Sorry Sean. I thought you’d fix the problems you had here, but it’s just not working out. Wish you luck Sean, just stay in the D-league, because noone is going to pick him up, and he’s definitely coming back here.
Wish you luck Sean.

Nets still have him under contract for next season, which means it will be even harder to trade him.
The irony is that James “Flight” White did a number on him. Nets considered taking him in first round in 2006 but he wound up getting shuffled around and wound up getting cut by the Pacers just before season opener. Nets wanted to sign him, but didnt have the roster space because of the McInnis fiasco. So the Spurs signed him.
White is the anti-SWat. Great athleticism, defensively minded like SWat…but he has developed his offensive game. Dump SWat, sad to say, and sign White.

Frank has ruined many Hall of Famers drafted by Stefanski: Planinic, Wright, Ilic, Marcus Williams, Hassan Adams.
Their confidence sapped, they leave, take their games elsewhere and soar like Eagles.

James White was sick in college. I watched him in a dunk contest and hoped the Nets would draft him in the 2nd round as a defensive stopper. I’m still rooting for Sean though. Still early in his career…….

I’m not ready to count Sean out yet, anything can happen, but I certainly have no expectations from him anymore. I can’t even imagine that Swat was offered for Bellinelli earlier in the year, who also scored 30+ points in an NBA game this year. Well, Thorn made a mistake but it was one of the very few he makes.

maybe we are at the point where we just have the bite the bullet and get better guys in here. yeah that wont happen, but it would be nice to get White and get Ager out and bring in Gill or Hodge for the benefit of the team.
swat has almost made those comparisons to swift a slap in swifts face. i mean we know swift isnt the brightest bulb, but he can at least make some impact while in the game
did swats agent tell him he said either see this as a demotion or a chance to show he belongs? well i guess swat took it as a demotion because it wasnt a wake up call.
hopefully rod can find some team that thinks they can fix swat and he just needs a second chance. i still think another team will give him a shot whether its via trade or when he becomes a FA.
at least next year his contract becomes somewhat valuable as teams always want expiring deals. its not a huge amount, but its still something

I think Swat’s biggest problem is he needs to get over himself. From the accounts i’ve seen it seems like he’s down on himself and angry that he’s there. What he needs to do is just play basketball, players from the D-league can still get called up to play. It’s almost like his pride is hurt and he’s not willing to see the bigger picture. If you feel like you dont belong in D-league and you should be getting playing time on the Nets roster… PROVE IT, dont sulk!

Nets Income
It was not Frank’s fault. The kid is s weed smoking punk with a bad attitide and no basketball IQ. He obviously is not mature enough or does not care enough to play NBA basketball. He had his chances. He was the backup for a good stretch of games this year and did nothing with it.

ummm I know this is going to sound like I’m stupid, but how is this kid supposedly a guy who smokes weed?
Has he had history back in college? I’m not sure.

I’m pretty sure Net Income was speaking sarcastically Joe P seeing as none of them are even in the NBA anymore, and yes Sean got busted and suspended in college for smoking weed.

I disagree with Xcalibur’s comment about Stromile Swift’s intelligence. What a shameful thing to say. This is 2009. Get that racist stuff outta here!
YAHHH

is it possible that sean wanted to stay with the nets so he messed around in the showcase so that other teams won’t want to pick him up? lol.. who knows. some people like to stay in the ny metro area.

R.M, yes, he has a history with the bush. For his sake I hope he’s clean.

If he doesnt care about the game why was he playing good last year
by M Jerz on Jan 9, 2009 5:16 AM EST reply actions
He has 4 blocks and 6 rebounds in 18 min. Kinda like Yi had for the month of December. I wonder if Frank will be there to introduce Yi at his HOF induction.

@libigman
Don’t compare D-league stats with NBA stats.
Can’t we trade him for James White?
by Krakista on Jan 9, 2009 7:57 AM EST reply actions
Guys he is learning to play the 3. He is getting boards, and blocking shots. All these dire predictions about Sean seem a little ridiculous. He needs to play and get some PT. He is a great athlete. He is a competitor. Let him get his game together in the D League. Probably the smartest thing for everyone would be to just let Sean play minutes in the D-League for the rest of the year, work hard in the summer and hopefully switch to a 3-4 tweener to give energy off the bench next year. But to get all bent out of shape and proclaim he is smoking weed and will be working at 7-11 is a bit silly. Plus even if he is smoking pot – you really think he would be the only athlete smoking?
As for James White, I have seen him play a lot – he reminds me of Jamario Moon. I remember watching Jamario play for the Albany Patroons of the CBA a few years back. He was kind of an afterthought on that team, as James Thomas (was center at University of Texas, had a small run with Philly and I think Atlanta) was tearing it up in the CBA, but Moon was just sick athlete. Think he was 28 when he finally caught on last year. James White is that same type of athlete, and I remember coming out of college he was known for sick dunks and being a lock down defender on the wing. He would definitely be a solid addition to the young Nets roster. And speaking of Jamario Moon…maybe Sean will just take a few years to develop. Way too young to stick a fork in.
And does anyone remember Ager in college? He was pretty nice – what happened?
by Ryan243 on Jan 9, 2009 9:30 AM EST reply actions
Sure it’s disappointing and his trade value has declined (if that’s possible), but we are overreacting to a bad start. He hasn’t played much this season, so I would expect it to take a while to get his body into game shape. His head apparently needs to get there too. That’s why it’s the D League.
