Hodge is Ready

He has no buyout, is ready to hop on a plane back to the US and is grateful to Kiki Vandeweghe for helping him fix his jumper. So said Julius Hodge in his blog from Australia Monday. Hodge who is averaging 26/8/6 Down Under was effusive about the help the Nets GM gave him. "My shot is feeling and looking very good," he writes. "Just wanna thank Kiki for taking that time for me." By Tuesday, he had left his team.

Why couldn’t we go after Jannero Pargo (if he wants to play in the NBA again)??? He gave the Hornets a huge boost, and they miss him this season. Hodge, Gill can do nothing to help this team get better.

haha i was just reading this on hoopshype. f gill. i really think hodge could be a huge help to this team on and off the court, we need to give him a chance. Pargo is a ball hog who makes tough shots, we don’t need any more shoot-first guards on this team.

Another one of KIKI’s “fallen angels”…I hope he gets back to the NBA and has a successful career. He seems like a nice guy with a tough story. Where he is, he is riding a bus, and gets a $20/a day food allowance. I wish him luck getting back to the big league.

Ever been to Australia? We’re not talking about North Dakota here. Lifestyle is very nice.
The reason the Nets are unlikely to get Pargo is that the Nets only have $1.9 million left from their MLE and Pargo would want more than that. No other way I can think of to get him. Cant trade Swift to Dinamo Moscow. Also, like Krstic, Pargo probably has a buyout (so nice of Hodge to tell us he doesn’t…hint, hint) to which the Nets can contribute a max of $500,000. He would have to handle the rest.

hodge is not a good player what i was thinking was this blockbuster trade either trade vince carter and sean williams for jeff green and chris wilcox and a 2nd round pick this will be so good jeff green is very young and good and he plays the small forward i love carter but its time to give him up or if not do that trade in the summer, or another trade would be vince carter and sean williams or josh boone for danny granger let me know what u guys think.

Fred Jones, Saun Livingston, Eddie Gill, Julius Hodge…The well isn’t as dry as Rod and Kiki are pretending.
We’re looking for a 3rd string guy. I don’t exactly expect to fill that role with Chris Paul.
Pull the trigger on SOMETHING! Come on!

1. Who do you cut? Nets are at 15 players. Cutting Mo Ager right now would cost $500,000. Is it worth it to grab someone off your list.
2. Fred Jones is not a PG. He is at best an SG and if he was worth an NBA gig, why did he have to wait til last week to get signed and then get dropped within a week.
3. Shaun Livingston didnt play for the Heat. He was a risk and it appears he didnt make enough progress to warrant being kept. Sound like Jay Williams. He couldnt have helped this year anyway.
4. Gill or Hodge sound like the strongest possibilities because they worked within the Nets system. So did Will Conroy, who is probably the best shooting point guard in the D-League with averages of 25 and 8. He has NBA experience with the Clippers and played for the Nets in Orlando.
5. Don’t sleep on Smush Parker who will be back (as long as he doesnt need to have his car parked.)
I dont think the Nets want to spend too much money on a third string PG. It’s that simple.

We’ve gotta free up a roster space first…thanks for being a good soldier Mo, but ya gotta go. Livingston or Gill, no to Hodge.

Bring in Gill
And Smush Parker may have the lowest basketball IQ i’ve ever seen

Bring in Gill or Hodge.
No to Parker, Pargo, and Fred Jones.
If we can just buy out Ager’s contract! Is that too much too ask?

If we’re not looking to cut Mo Ager because we’re afraid of spending $500k, we have to package him with someone else and move him or send him somewhere straight up for a 2nd round draft pick.
If he holds that little value and we can’t move him we need to cut him. I personally think it’s just that simple. I don’t see how it would even be a question.
What is more wasteful?
A) Having a guy on your bench who is 6 foot 5, can’t bring the ball up the court, and/or is not strong, long, creative or tall enough to finish at the rim.
B) Eatting his $500,000 to open up a roster spot?

bring in hodge, he gives us a totally different look than a pargo or gill. gill stinks! hodge seems like he wants to be on the nets and has worked his tail off. he will look at this as another opportunity. i like his outlook.

i prefer Gill over Julius. i thought when Gill was here he did an ok job. really we just want a guy to handle the rock and set up the offense. we saw he could hit the 3 and handle the ball. thats what i want.

We are not bringing in anyone. Period. Ratner won’t even spend a dime of his money to get a 3rd string point guard. The only way we bring in ANYONE will be in some partially guaranteed salary whose contract stipulates that in the event we don’t want him, he’ll automatically become a construction hand and go to work on Atlantic Yards.

If you are Mo Ager why are you not busting your ass and doing everything you can to become a point guard? As career deep bench player, If you smell minutes anywhere you should try to tailor your game to suit any role needed.
I know it’s not that easy, but it sounds like it would be a much easier project than turning Sean Williams into a small forward.

Maurice Ager scored 19 points a game his senior year in college a few short years ago. He did, however dish out 2.5 assists per game, which is by no means astounding.
My thought process brings me to the assumption that if you can put yourself in a position to score, you SHOULD (if your mindset is that of a facilitator) be able to put yourself in a position to help other people score by way of an assist.
What kills me the most about Ager is that when he get’s in the game he gets to the basket and forces up bad shots or he shoots bad shots because he’s looking to do what he did in college: score! I don’t think he has the size and strength to score at this level, nor will he ever. Why not see if he can run around and distribute the ball a little bit?
Give him 10 minutes a game for a few games in a row and tell him to do his best Steve Nash impression and see what happens.
I have the feeling he can get where he wants to be on the court. We’re not talking about Trenton Hassell here. Mo Ager can get off the ground in a hurry and seems to be quick enough to get into the paint.
Hell, send him to a point guard camp for a few weeks if you have to. If we’re too cheap to get a third string PG, we have to work with the cards we’ve been delt.

Why can’t we just Eddie Gill it? Save some flexibility if he need to make a trade before the deadline.
That’s my idea and I’m sticking to it.
