Williams Starts at SF but Fouls Keep Him on Bench

Sean Williams told the Nets' brass he wanted to play some small forward in Colorado, and with the 14ers starting small forward now out for the season with a torn achilles, he got his chance Friday. Williams played only 16 minutes however due to foul trouble and scored just three points on 1-of-3 shooting. He did block six shots as the 14ers lost to Tulsa. Williams has now blocked 10 shots in 34 minutes of D-League action.

Its great to see Sean playing the 3. Watching Marvin Williams last night reminded me of Sean. Marvin was horrible for his first 1.5 yrs, and was forcefed minutes the entire time. If Sean can develop into a legit 3 through this experience, this will be huge for the Nets. Good luck Sean

Seems like an interesting project. I think if all goes well, Sean can be a poor man’s Kirilenko with his ability to block shots. Of course, he’ll have to develop a handle and a jumper if he’s going to play out there. And not foul so damn much.

Man if anyone has a connection to Sean and they can talk to him tell him he can do it. SF position would be huge if he could master it. He can already handle a little, so if he picks that up and learns how to shoot especially that corner 3, and of course stay out of foul trouble he’s straight

You never know. I never saw Marvin Williams making an outside shot, but he hits mid range and 3. I’ve followed him since Carolina. Sean has a jump shot, he just needs to work on it
