Third Point Guard Still on Nets' Agenda

They'd have to do some roster reshuffling, but the Nets' front office is bound to revisit the third point guard issue soon. According to reports, the absence of both Keyon Dooling and Vince Carter had the Nets a bit anxious before New Years. Rod Thorn and Kiki Vandeweghe have both admitted the roster is distorted and they'd like add some insurance at the point. We look at who might be available, including some old faces.

I actually like Eddie Gill. He’s more of a scoring guard than a traditional point guard, but the guy’s got skills enough for your third point guard slot. Plus, he’s already familiar with the organization and with some of the players

I’m with you. Bring back Gill. Pargo would fit nice on the team too though. But if we got Pargo, he would suck up any minutes that CDR would get.

Remember how good Jacque Vaughn was? I dont get why we let him go… the second we did we were no longer known for our defense.

go after bayless he destroyed everyone in the summer and Portland isn’t even playing him.

i was a big supporter of cdr…but he’s not ready to be on the court…he needs time…confidence isnt there….he doesnt even look happy to play

I don’t see why we would get Conley, the guy is a possible starter once he gets his head together and probably won’t be very happy being just a backup in a bit of time.
Lowry would be more realistic, and probably better since he’s an aggressive defender.
Sure Vaughn doesn’t give you stats, but the guy’s a pretty solid defender, so don’t hate.
And I don’t think Portland’s willing to give up on Bayless just yet.
I still think Gill would be the easiest option for us, simple d-league callup meaning small meaningless salary if things don’t go according to plan

I dont know what Jacque Vaughn some of you were watching, but the Jacque Vaughn that played for the Nets was horrible defensively. Sure it’s not all about stats when it comes to defense so I dont expect things to show up in the boxscore. On the court PGs blew by him repeatedly, he was always called for reach in fouls, I didnt even see him knock away passes too often. I dont get where he got this rep as a solid defender because the entire time he was in NJ he mustve been hiding all of his defensive skills, they sure werent used on the court for the Nets.

If he is so bad why did the Spurs, of all teams see potential in him?

And you might like this too… I also though that Darrell Armstrong was great for us off the bench. Such enthusiasm, really brought our energy level up with constant vigor.

Finally, now we can hang our NBA championship banner!

Jacque Vaughn was superb defensively…period.
The reason that he and Planinic left is because they saw Marcus Williams taking their minutes. After his summer league performance and the attendant hype, it sure looked that way…although as an assistant coach told Al Iannazzone back then, “He (Marcus) couldn’t guard a bank with a machine gun.”

Lord have mercy. Please do not bring back Gill. Hopefully we can land Sergio Rodriguez and hopefully he will turn out to be an amazing play for us. He bring something new to us, and he doesn’t turn over the ball. I like PG’s who don’t turn over the ball

Gill doesn’t have horrible numbers and is a true point guard. His numbers are vastly improving and he definitely deserves to get at least a 3rd rotation spot, after all of these years.
let’s step it up Tho
