For Yi, It's All Basketball All the Time

After watching him work out for the first time, the Nets say they're not worried about Yi Jianlian's stamina, even after two straight years of basketball. Lawrence Frank says it hasn't hurt Yao Ming or Manu Ginobili. Still, Dave D'Alessandro reports the Bucks' assistant who worked with Yi says he hit the rookie wall twice last year. Still, Brian James notes: "I think he has a chance to be one of the better fours in the NBA."

@Tim – that was the first thing that i noticed too. thats not a good feeling.
i still cant believe that 2 years straight of basketball wont take its toll on Yi. maybe he can play well for half a season or parts, but for an entire 82 game season plus preseason games? he said hes young, but 2 years of basketball is still 2 years of miles on those legs.
i hope he proves me wrong as he is one of the most important players going into the future. one thing that was nice to read was that Yi understands english very well from his coaches to his teammates and can understand schemes very well. couple of positives about him and couple of negatives, but all players have negatives. hopefully he can eliminate some of them this year and grow

What’s the difference between Yi and any of the young players on Team USA?
Didn’t they play last summer then train in Vegas this summer?
As we note in Off Season Report, players who take part in the Olympics usually do better the next season.
Let’s not get our knickers in a twist yet?

I’m sure Frank is probably loaded up on Ativan to help from freaking about not being able to coach..

I see the general optimism of Nets fans is again on display.
I often compare the never-say-live attitude of Nets fans with that of the Knicks fans who in spite years of incompetent ownership and even more incompetent management and on-court play remain optimistic.
Yao was injured playing for the Rockets, not for the Chinese National Team and there is NO evidence his injury was the result of his extended play. Manu injured his ankle with the Spurs and then he decided to play for Argentina. His decision.
Yi did not get injured. As for last year, he hit the rookie wall a little earlier than Sean Williams, who admitted after the season that his legs were “heavy” midway through the season and he played fewer minutes. What’s Swat’s excuse? It’s called the “rookie wall” for a reason.
Team USA was lucky it didn’t have any injuries, but it was simply luck. There were 42 NBA players in the Olympics. Four NBA players carried the flags of their nations: Yao, Ginobili, Kirilenko, and Nowitzki. A recent former NBA player, Sarunas Jasikevicius carried the Lithuanian national flag.

Or play 30 minutes a game. I think the work he did vs. Germany and Dirk (24/17) Nowitski had to tire him out.

Vance Walberg the inventor of the dribble drive motion offense attributes its success to the blood drill.
Heres how it looks. Pay attention Lawrence:
