Around SBN: Off Tackle Empire interviews Rich Rodriguez

SLAM Slams Nets' Prospects, New Jersey, Vince Carter, etc., etc.

As if things weren't bad enough in Net-land, a guy who regularly gets fed by Gary Sussman trashes everything Nets. Not much new in this one: Expect 20 to 30 wins, rookies who play hard, the Nets have a "rising star" in Devin Harris, and Vince Carter will be injured (VC's missed fewer games than any NBA superstar in the past five years). Our advice to the Sez: no chicken for this guy this year.

Preview? Other than the uninteresting prediction of 20-30 wins, what part of this article is really a preview? A better title may be “Uninformed Ramblings About A Team I Know Little About.”

This is absolute garbage. I mean, is this a Nets’ preview or a lame Carter hating article? You should understand how ignorant this hater is when you read things like this: “just like Vince will most likely choose to skip most of the season once he’s "injured”… The ignorant who wrote this obviously doesn’t know (or doesn’t want to remember) that Carter played injured last season even when we were already elimanated from the PO contention, and he did just to quit on this team, not to mention the fact that is stressed in the recap: "Vince Carter (who has missed fewer games than any NBA superstar in the past five years). I’m not gonna waste my time commenting the rest of stupid things this ignorant says abou Carter, because it’s just the typical and usual litany of complaints we’re used to hear from the VC haters, all about cliches. It’s not worth reading it.

sorry, I meant to say he did it just to not quit on this team.

As brutal as this article was, it had some interesting stuff. The you tube video was a two fold to me. Yes, people wish he could do that now. Imagine if the Nets had that VC. But that was 8 years ago. If you look how hard and high he was flying, that was a 225 pond man landing on hard wood 3+ feet out of the air. That takes a toll on your legs.
If you are a jumper, your legs are going to give. You will get tendenitis and your joints will knot/swell underneath. That crap hurts, even when you get up from sitting down. If you can’t jump like you used to, your shot selection changes, and so does your game. Hence the VC you see today.
I do think the Nets will be exciting to watch if the leadership is good. VC and Devin will have to be the glue. I think Yi can be a Mikki Moore. I think he’s to thin and soft to be a good defender, but he can make some jumpers. He needs to be in with a Najera or Brook at all times, to help him defensively. Sean needs to keep his head in the game and I think he’ll have a sloid year. Josh needs to work on being a little stronger and confident. If you shoot tentatively, you are not going to have a high shooting percentage.
I know this is a Nets forum, but I am still on a high from lat’s nights Cowboys vs. Eagles game. That game was good!

@ Andres,

And Raptors fans, media, etc need to get over it. Carter’s been gone 3 years now, and they still love throwing that man under the bus. It’s like having a crazy stalker ex that makes your life miserable because they still want you!

This article was complete and utter garbage. Talk about a guy who is a proficient Nets hater. But isn’t all the media Nets haters?

I still can’t comprehend the amount of garbage that is written about VC. He’s a good player, let him be!

“…despite posting career highs in multiple categories (FT, RPG and APG) Carter had what may have been his worst season since going on strike in Toronto”

After reading that sentence, I stopped. This guy is ridiculous! Carter has career highs in rbg/aPG/FT yet it was his worst year? I can see how a player can have career high in points and still have bad year, but not 3 categories.

Carter dealt with an injury most of last year…he is healthy now and I am hoping all this crap written about him gets shoved right back down their own throats when he goes on a tear this year.

LOL @ taking Slam Magazine and their “journalism” seriously. SLAM may be one of the most unprofessional and poorly written sports magazines out there. Moving right along people………

This article is an abomination. I have no idea how and why people like this even get published. He calls the Eastern Conference Pathetic when the defending Champions are from the Eastern Conference and decimated the Lakers. He borrows the overused “it’s the same Vince as in Toronto” argument. He even takes shots at Jersey calling it a garbage dump. I’d love to bury him sixth feet under all that garbage.

I think if VC was MVP, scored 35 ppg, and won the championship they would still bash him. Give it up media, its getting old.

" I thought Jersey was famous for industrial power plants making that smell"

Provincial New Yorker??? I’m going with absolutely.
Because everyone knows how lovely Hunts point, East New York & Long Island City are this time of year. It’s enchanting!!!
