Nets' New Assistants Bring Career Toughness

Bill Cartwright and Pat Sullivan, the two assistants who left the team for Phoenix and Detroit, had a grand total of six NBA championship rings and one NCAA championship between them. The two men who replaced them have none, but what they do have is a history of grit--playing on one year-contracts or coaching in the D-League. For Doug Overton and Roy Rogers, the Nets represent the next step.

So, what we have become is the Bobcats: we are overmatched each night by talent, but we try hard and compete alot. We have two new cheerleaders as coaches for our Bobcat future. Nice.

“It lends a little credibility to the guys when I tell them I understand what they’re going through. So I’m hoping that with my experience as a former NBA player, the guys will listen to and value the information that I’m trying to provide them with," Rogers said. "
now some of you frank defenders know why the players were tuning out frank last year. where is his credibilty. where is his real nba experiecne? how can he relate to nba players. why would they even listen to him.
well last year proved once and for all that frank isnt fit as nba head coach.
getting two nba players to mentor the youngsters is all good, but it will still not be able to cover frank’s awful coaching.
let me say this one more time. i havent seen a coach who has created mismatches agaisnt his own team and players. for example, putting boone on curry, and collins on randolph. putting boone on ben wallace and collins on joe smith, and not being able to figure out the awful mismatch. putiing kidd on crwford and vince on nate robinson????
not being able to instill positive energy and confidence into his young players. making it seem like its impossible to be sucessful in the nba. and when they show some good signs(like sean), he unexplicable puts them in the dog house or limit their minutes big time.
he just dopesnt understand the game and the players verty well. his player communication, and development is hands down the worst uin the nba.
folks, im not knocking frank, im just stating the facts.
once marcus shoines under nellie, and if they trade sean, and fulfills his potential, which he will, it will only solidify frank’s shortcomings. frank is creating his own demise without even noticing.
i am sure that the youngsters will hardly see any minutes this year. he wont stick with them and let them learn. wiht frank, the team’s plans will enevr be fulfilled. he isnt an nba coach, and last year proved it. there hasnt been a team that has dogged it like frank’s nets. and it aint kidd’s fault. frank should be the leader not kidd. he should put the team in line. he kisses his veterans asses, and acts like a tough guy with the youngsters. he doesnt treat the players equally, and isnt commited to their development. frank admitted himself that he failed to get the team to buy in, and when that usually happens the coach gets fired. but because thron was stupid enough to give him an unwarranted extention, it will only kill thorn’s credibilty if he fired him, giving him a 9 million dollar parting gift.
i am sure frank isnt kiki’s kind of guy, and before you know it, kiki will finish his demolition project with the firing of frank, you can book it.
