Around SBN: Clippers Need To Realize That Spurs Are The Anti-Grizzlies

Game 64 - Nets @ Rockets - Monday, March 10, 8:30

What's worse than a five-game losing streak? A five-game losing streak going into a game against a team with an 18-game winning streak ... on the road. That's what! A Rocket win would match the third longest winning streak ever, tieing the Lakers' 1999 run. The Nets try to end their Western Conference nightmare. They're 9th in the East, a half game behind Atlanta ... but only three ahead of 13th place Milwaukee. It's time for Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson to turn it on like they have in years past.

If you’ve been unhappy with the Nets’ offense lately, you should probably not watch this one. The Rockets’ defense is second best in the league and has been absolutely suffocating teams during the streak.

blow out 30+ for Rockets
only VC and RJ will show up tonight.
Boone,Diop will be schooled.
Sean won`t get minutes.
Marcus will play good but not enough
Harris will shoot it more than he pass it.
Nachbar will take more shots than the starters…which he sometimes does.

If all of this happenes..like the past 6 games….I guarantee a loss…I really hope I`m wrong though :{:{

VC vs. TMac if that doesn`t motivate VC to show up and start playing ,nothing will.It will be over for the Nets.I hope he proves me wrong…..
VC for 40+

9th? i have a bet da nets will make playoffs

by iftekhar on Mar 9, 2008 5:50 PM EDT reply actions

Why would fans want to win games at this point?..You should be hoping for losses for a better draft pick and a possible package of picks for a better player..You should all hope Frank DOES NOT GET FIRED before the season ends so the Nets are assured of no playoffs and less wins and a lottery pick..Than at the end of the season FIRE FRANK and have a lottery pick along with Dallas’ and you have a nice team to build on..Thorn really blew it by not firing Frank and hiring Adleman when he had the chance..

by HoldenCaufield718 on Mar 9, 2008 5:54 PM EDT reply actions

Good thinking Holden, but we can not guarantee Rod thinks the same. I really hope we get Green, because it looks like we can get tyler hansbrough at Dallas’ pick, so I don’t wanna waste that on a SG.

by Jerrod on Mar 9, 2008 6:17 PM EDT reply actions

AGREE, FIre FRANK Would LEad To a 1st round LOSS. KEEP him here MIGHT give us better Picks. Skiles should be offered a ASSISTANT ROLE at least to keep him available TILL THE INEVITABLE FRANK IDIOT FIRING.
THat DUMB doug look alike is GOOD for sumthin after all. IS HIS PLAYERS STILL listening to Him.????

by jerseynut on Mar 9, 2008 6:32 PM EDT reply actions

because holden we want to see our team in the playoffs thats why. we are a good team we just need more time to gel. its unfair because we are facing tough teams so our confidence is low right now trust me next week we arent going to be this bad

by BEN on Mar 9, 2008 6:42 PM EDT reply actions

Rockets will blow the nets out by at least 25 points. RJ will have 6 whiney screams while driving to the hole and VC will have 5, yet each will only get two calls.

by Johnny on Mar 9, 2008 6:56 PM EDT reply actions

There should be radical change. Carter should be the point guard on half court game. Harris or Williams during transition. Carter and Jefferson mentally TOUGHEN themselves during crunch time. Win the game every quarter. And Frank set the team better defensively.

by edd on Mar 9, 2008 9:14 PM EDT reply actions

the nets get screwed by the refs on a nightly basis … what a shock that they’re not intimidated by ‘the little general’ … you’d think frank’s mere presence would have the refs shaking in their boots … kind of reminds you of bobby knight, doesn’t he … lol

by newark hawk on Mar 9, 2008 10:47 PM EDT reply actions

Yeah sure. The Nets are going to win by 5 points. It’s one of those things were the unexpected happens plus I’m always right. If I’m wrong I won’t come back to eat crow but I’ll come back. Topic change: I went to see the Devils play for the first time at the Rock on Friday evening and it was the best arena I’ve ever been to in my life.

by Sean Serritella YankeesDaily on Mar 10, 2008 3:50 AM EDT reply actions

it is simple……..if carter get the amount ot touches a superstar should get, we can win this game

the prob is that Frank screwed the offensive hirachie……the last three years when the nets were one of the better teams in the nba, Carter was the first option, period.

now, guys like RJ, Nachbar, even williams have more attempts than carter , which obviously is the main reason why we stink so badly this year.

return to the basics, give VC the ball, let RJ be the 2nd option he is and tell the other guys that they are not Vince Carter……….that is the only way we can become a good team again

cheers

The lottery is useless if Frank is still the head coach. Even a number# 1 pick will just sit in his doghouse.

by Ken on Mar 10, 2008 7:28 AM EDT reply actions

the Nets don’t get screwed, they screw themselves. No aggressions and jump shots does not lead to foul shots.

Someone, anyone, show up for the fourth quarter, please.

You are always right? You were the one who said the “Nets are going to beat the Spurs. We are the best team in basketball.”

Face it guys, were not going to win against the best. Once we play the

I smell an 18 point loss!! Doesn’t smell too good either

Want a new coach next season?

One way to have the wish come true: lose all the rest 19 games of the season, then the nets will have a new coach next season.

by simonsaid on Mar 10, 2008 10:55 AM EDT reply actions

I hope they just attack the basket, carter needs to be more aggresive… DAMN BE AGGRESIVE!

by dino33 on Mar 10, 2008 11:04 AM EDT reply actions

“It’s time for Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson to turn it on like they have in years past.”

Is it?

Or is it time to start thinking about tanking the season to get more ping pong balls for the Michael Beasley sweepstakes?

by A.S. on Mar 10, 2008 11:09 AM EDT reply actions

Kevin, guess what? Jason Collins grabbed 11 rebounds!…. He grabbed 11 rebounds, “total” for the past 9 games! What’s the math on that? Let’s see, 11/9, ok, anyway, I bet he set some great picks! Hmm? Hmmm? He wait, he did score a total of 11 points over the past 9 games as well! Nets Hall of Shame! Here he comes!

Lets Go Nets going for your 6 game losing streak and GO ROCKETS 19 game winning streak

Why did you bring up Collins? See, you are obsessed with him. LOL

by kevin on Mar 10, 2008 1:38 PM EDT reply actions

Sean – Comparing Jason Collins with RJ and VC, particularly offensive output, is a waste of all our time.

U guys are on point…. Lets just get through the season and see what type of draft pick(s) we can get… I don’t want to watch the game but I must be into SM the way I allow them to toture me… This season STINKs!

By the way Fire LFrank!

by John on Mar 10, 2008 2:48 PM EDT reply actions

Nets get no respect from the Refs, because they don’t look like they want to win. There is a time when a person stops gaurding you on the perimeter, and lets you shoot (Harris-mainly, Carter, RJ.) What do ya’ll do you keep shooting. I understand the whole confidence and pride thing, but… Imma put it the only way I know how. Don’t be so un-confident that you stop shooting, but don’t get so swallowed in your pride that you put yourself into a hole. I heard about the 3 jumpshots rule, well no need to take three. Take it in instead. Other than that can some one else grab a board, score, assist, and go after lose balls other than RJ, Carter, Harris, and Marcus. seriously what else do you guys do but waste money time and space. They are tired, because you are not doing what you’re supposed to on the floor.

by Jerrod on Mar 10, 2008 3:11 PM EDT reply actions

@ mjs

carter, nachbar, harris and marcus frequently attack the paint, yet don’t get to the line as much as they should … jefferson is the only net who gets a fair whistle… but i do agree that carter, because of his freakish athleticism, should be even more aggressive than he already is

Just wanted to say that that comment above by “Jonathan” was not by me, Jonathan, the regular poster here. First of all, his comment was way too short ;-) and secondly, why would I say “GO ROCKETS”?

NetsDaily, a suggestion for you: implement some sort of user account system so we can have verified usernames.
