Nets' Scouts Head for College Conference Tourneys

With two first round picks and one second rounder, Nets' scouts are hitting the conference tournaments this month. Gregg Polinsky, the Nets chief scout, was in Mobile Alabama, this weekend for the Sunbelt Conference championship, one of 17 NBA scouts on hand. The prime prospect appears to be Courtney Lee, Western Kentucky's 6'-6" sharpshooter. He's been likened to the Raptors' Anthony Parker. Lee is projected as a late first rounder or early second rounder.

The Draftexpress link questions the guy’s aggressiveness in prior years, which means he’s missing one of the things we most need. He might be another Antoine, a physically able specimen who doesn’t show up in games.
They should draft Tyler Hansborough, the college player who most shows a passion to win.

We should draft Michael Beasley too… We need the draft picks to draft these talents. We will (likely) not be in position to take Hansborough.

Tyler Hansbrough will be available at Dallas’ pick so why take this guy at this spot when we can get him. There are guards available, now like Gerald Green who we should pick up. Tyler Hansbrough has the same intensity as KG. People call TH small, so? They called KG too small, they called Kevin D. too small, they call Elton Brand too small.Draft a guard with our pick, dont waste the other picks on guys who will not get PT.

We need someone who gets to the line and makes the FT’s right? then why not let it be Tyler

If the Nets are counting on the Dallas pick to turn into the new starting SG then they’re really in trouble. The Nets need shooters off the bench and Lee is perfect for that.

Hansborough is predicted to go around 20 so I think we will have every chance to pick him up. Right now the Mavs pick falls right around there so not hard to trade up a few spots to get him.
The question is what we do if we wind up tanking for the rest of the season and picking 9th or so in the lottery (don’t laugh, we are only 3 games away from there right now – the East is close not just between 7 and 9 but from 9 thru 12). Do we pick Hansborough there? If you believe the pundits, he’s not a top 10 pick. I may disagree. I think it depends on where the Mavs pick falls.
Beasley will be number 1 or 2 and unlikely we pick there.
WE NEED PLAYERS WITH A BURNING DESIRE TO WIN AND TO DOMINATE THEIR ADVERSARIES FOR MORE THAN JUST A PLAY OR TWO.

I like TH but if the Nets pick him up they’ll have to make room for him. We already have Boone, Sean and Stro. Not to mention the other bigs. I think having 2 first rounders plus the bigs we already have should give us leverage to make a trade and get shooters. We have talent everywhere but no real shooters. Boki is inconsistent and other teams zone us up and it’s over. How about Trading Vince for Michael Redd? Wish we would have kept Korver….

We don’t need another big – we already have a bunch of those who are young. We need a swingman to backup VC and RJ. Hassell is bad; he’s no better than an 11th or 12 man. The problem is that, assuming the Nets are picking in the low lottery, there’s not much there. We won’t pick high enough to get OJ Mayo or Eric Gordon. Next best swingman is – Chase Buddinger?
Maybe we’ll pick a big even though we don’t need one.
