Some Team Disguised as the Nets Beats the Mavs by 19

Overheard in the Nets' locker room after Sunday's game at the IZOD Center: "You want to play with those guys?" The Mavs looked like the team in turmoil on this night, as the Nets got their second straight double-digit victory, a laugher with the Big Three (can we call them that again?) leading the way. The Nets were down 11 midway through the second quarter, but finished the half on a 21-4 run to take a six-point lead into the break. They continued to roll into the second half, leading by as many as 20 in the third and never looking back. Vince Carter led all scorers and rebounders with 29 points on 12-of-20 shooting and nine boards. Jason Kidd added 13 points and 14 assists and Richard Jefferson added 19 points and seven rebounds. Sean Williams was terrific off the bench with 15 points, seven boards and two blocks and Nenad Krstic showed signs of improvement as well. Dallas shot just 37 percent from the field, including 2-of-18 from downtown, with Dirk Nowitzki going just 4-for-16.

WOW!!..

Vinsainity is back!!..good lookin NENAD!!..i think that it’s better for SWILL to stay off the bench!!..

yeah..“the BIG THREE”

GO NETS!!..

by jab on Feb 10, 2008 9:16 PM EST reply actions

LMAO. WOW. but good game. DA needs to play on the offensive end or just give up the ball, RJ needs to stop passing (I’d rather hear people call RJ selfish than to see him try to throw a lob), Kidd needs to stop getting overexcited and try to throw up half court lobs (your going on 35 don’t have a heart attack), someone need to take a hammer to Vince’s head during warm-ups before every game.
Sean is such an interesting player he reminds me of a Tyson Chandeler/Amare/Josh Smith. He is quick, jumps soooo high, getting a shooting touch, developing quicker than I expected, I payed close attention to Sean, and the same fouls he was committing earlier this season are gone. He plays those pick and rolls better, he is taking those jumpers, he is rebounding, the guy is growing before our eyes.

Nenad is looking better, and better too.

by Jerrod on Feb 10, 2008 9:19 PM EST reply actions

good game thats 2 big wins in a row, but more importantly im starting to believe in these nets. of course its only 2 wins, and they’ve played some of the worst ball in the entire league at stretches, but the way the east is, im starting to believe we might as well wait til the summer if we’re gonna blow it up. With kidd actually trying (although he thought it more of an audition), things look good with the big 3, especially when we see carter beginning to look more healthy and assertive and with jefferson continuing to take it to the rim like always. Furthermore, boone and williams continue to play well, and as kristic works himself into the lineup and with stro showing a little here and there, im beginning to think this team could do some damage this year, make a run possibly. Additionally with mgloire, we really are deep in the frontcourt. However i would never put much faith into this team as they’ve not proven to be worthy of it this year, but again, the team they have can really be a good team. These next games before the trade deadline are going to be crucial.. if we can win these next few games before the AS break, get some rest and try and get healthy, we have a decent schedual until the trade deadline with chicago, indiana twice, orlando and milwaukee. waht you guys think

by yeaaaman on Feb 10, 2008 9:19 PM EST reply actions

Excellent game. This is what this team is capable of people. These are the real New Jersey Nets. They need to win the next two games going into the All Star game against T-wolves and Raps to keep momentum going through to the last two months. We are still in the playoff race amazingly enough. Keep the faith and J-Kidd.

by jerseycityNetsfan on Feb 10, 2008 9:20 PM EST reply actions

FREE STRO!!! That guy is amazing, and he only played 1 min. Marcus needs to get more PT also, but I am seeing what Frank is doing to our guards now. Expect to see Marcus next game more so than Darrel, and then Darrel against the Raps (O boy)

by Jerrod on Feb 10, 2008 9:22 PM EST reply actions

Maybe that jaw shot Carter took de-****ified him. Why can’t he attack the rim like that every night? They need to follow up now on Tuesday. They cannot play down to the T-Wolves level and let Al Jefferson kill them like he does. It would be a traditional letdown and they better be prepared for the game so we can witness 3 straight laughers.

by Joe P. on Feb 10, 2008 9:23 PM EST reply actions

You guys are geting to exited :) its just a win lets see what hapen .. and the coach that we have that dont know to match up players its amazing how they came back after that rotation that he made with allen and wright on dirk.. Why they got Swift to stay out the guy can bring solid numbers **** u frank loser ..

Will the real New Jersey Nets Please Stand UP!!! Sean willimas and stro coming in for one another and all the others pecces with nenad can make something happen.

it’s funny how Kevin aka Mr. Dollar Bill (same person) always silent when VC does his thang…LOL. Great team win.

Someone should tell the nets that they are playing Dallas on Tuesday night instead of the hapless T’Wolves. MAYBE ANOTHER WIN!

back from the game thoughts

as I suggested, the Nets starting backcourt dominated this game…Kevin, I am expecting a humble post from you after your remark about Terry showing VC how a shooting guard should play

I was shocked though that RJ and SWill outplayed Josh Howard and Nowitski. Dirk tried to take advantage of the rookie-one play he shoved off before receiving the ball, obvious foul no call, next play he kicked out his feet and flailed his arms in a retarded attempt to draw a foul…but SWill totally humiliated Dirk with the block at the end…SWill for ROY…he trashed the former MVP.

only bad note…the bench was awful other than SWill

by Spartan on Feb 10, 2008 10:19 PM EST reply actions

btw, that was not nearly humble enough Kevin

by Spartan on Feb 10, 2008 10:20 PM EST reply actions

Thats what happens when Kidd and RJ actually feel like playing for the Nets. This team could be soooooo much better if they werent throwing the season away intentionally. Let’s not forget Kidd’s agent was trying to get a trade since before the season even started. Kidd gave up on the team without giving them a chance and who knows where we would be if he didnt. Anyone else think the Nets are letting Nenad start early because they want to showcase him for the renewed talks with Indy??

by TheMann on Feb 10, 2008 10:23 PM EST reply actions

And that’s how VC made them eat their words and the Nets went on a 11-game winning streak…
LOL

by stillflashy on Feb 10, 2008 10:33 PM EST reply actions

Good win. We need to continue to build on wins like this. If we go out and lose to Minnesota on Tuesday, then this was all for nothing. Sean Williams is becoming quite impressive.

Go Nets!!!!!!!!!!!!

by Matt H on Feb 10, 2008 10:40 PM EST reply actions

all want to say is that guess who is back back aggain ,,,,,,vc,……..

by joe t nets on Feb 10, 2008 10:45 PM EST reply actions

We need to play sean and swift together off the bench. Just imagine that for a moment….scary!(for the apposing team)

by Danny on Feb 10, 2008 11:18 PM EST reply actions

I’m not impressed AT ALL. They should have been doing this all season…lets see if it keeps up. These past two games only show that Kidd and Carter have been DOGGING IT. Lets see if Kidd plays hard against minnesota..either way, i am disgusted with both of these jerks because they should have been doing this the entire time.

and why did Swift only get like 30 secs of playing time?

And Sean Williams, you are a NET true and true buddy. He will be a star in this league.

by Mr. Dollar Bills on Feb 10, 2008 11:35 PM EST reply actions

The nets played a great game. Easily the best game of the season.

by King John da FiF on Feb 10, 2008 11:52 PM EST reply actions

2 DOUBLE DIGIT WINS WITH NENAD IN STARTING LINEUP.
CARTER’S ANKLE IS GETTING BETTER, NOT TO MENTION WHEN THE OFFENSE IS RUNNING THROUGH HIM THE TEAM PLAYS 100 PERCENT BETTER. HE’S BETTER THAN 90% OF ALL GUARDS IN THE NBA. THE TEAM IS MUCH BETTER WHEN RJ PLAYS THE SILENT ASSASSIN
KIDD IS GOING TO BE KIDD
JKIDD, VC, RJ, NENAD, BOONE+ SEAN,SWIFT,BOKI,AND ARMSTRONG OFF THE BENCH (ONLY CAUSE HE MAKES BETTER DECISIONS THAN MARCUS!!)= A 5TH,6TH SPOT AT WORST IN THE EAST, PLAYOFFS IS OPEN GAME PERIOD.

by minkis67 on Feb 11, 2008 12:14 AM EST reply actions

I’m happy to see the big four play together again.

Krstic – Jefferson – Carter – Kidd

they were called Fantastic Four two years ago.
Now they finally play together.

Two season ago, we had Collins as our center/power forward, right now we have Sean Williams, Josh Boone, and Stromile Swift, that’s a good upgrade,

i hope we will have a long long winning streak just like two seasons ago, we have 10 and 14 winning streak.

by jarkid on Feb 11, 2008 12:26 AM EST reply actions

Bring in Mike Miller!

by Mr. Dollar Bills on Feb 11, 2008 1:26 AM EST reply actions

If Vince play every game like he’s been hit with an elbow, and Kidd continues with his impressive performances, that’s good all good. And what about SWill? :D

Go Nets, Go VC, true blood never lies.

by Carlos on Feb 11, 2008 2:27 AM EST reply actions

Great win!!! The team is healthier, guys are gerring used to play with each other, and we’ve won two great games in a row. Vince was great, Kidd was great, Sean was great, this game was great! We just rolled right over Dallas. Nice!!

by Rich on Feb 11, 2008 3:26 AM EST reply actions

this performance shows how good the nets actually can be……..I really think that thorn should keep this team together. I still believe in this team and I am sure we will make some noise at the end of the season

BTW, if you look at Carter this game, there is no way thorn should trade him for oneal……….that would be the worst move ever

go nets

by dadi on Feb 11, 2008 5:36 AM EST reply actions

Do you think they woke up b/c the coach called them all out? Great motivator. Frank coached a great game, switching defenses on Dirk and baffling him. Nenad is slowly working his way back and Carter and Kidd are working hard to get traded!

by geo on Feb 11, 2008 6:52 AM EST reply actions

After this kind of win – the Nets should start getting better offers for trades. Now the question is – will Thorn make ANY deals.

If Thorn doesn’t trade Kidd, he should promise Kidd a 1 year extension if the Nets make the finals.

by halwas on Feb 11, 2008 9:05 AM EST reply actions

I’m with Mr. Dollar Bill.

I’m not impressed at all. The true Nets fans know that this team is better than this and they should’ve been doing this all season.

Oh and about Carter, was it like 25 points 2 games ago? 18 last game. 29 this game. Yea, he’s very consistent alright. LOL

He was also the reason we got that 11-point deficit. HE DIDN’T GET HIT!!! HE WAS ACTING!!! Practically everyone in rows I was in said that. If he really got hit, then there’s no way he recovered that fast.

And just to make it fair, I’ll complain about RJ too. That guy needs to stop taking jump shots. I liked it better in the 2nd half when he was attacking. And can he make a free throw anymore? Jeeze!!!

by kevin on Feb 11, 2008 10:42 AM EST reply actions

Like they said in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, “who are those guys”? I could not believe my eyes.

by Mt57 on Feb 11, 2008 10:45 AM EST reply actions

The real question is:
Will teh Nets play good enough before the Feb 21 deadline to convince THorn to keep the team?!
Something tells me this may be to late…
hope not!

by stillflashy on Feb 11, 2008 10:47 AM EST reply actions

I hope that we’re not show casing NK for JO. I think with all the BIGS we have there is no need to bring him here to stunt the growth of SWill and Swift (should get more time hopefully sooner rather then later). If JKidd can get it through his head that these NETS can be as good as the rest of the EAST we’ll be fine… Think about it outside of Boston (which I still think we can beat) no one is totally out of our league? Also, Thorn is doing right by holding on to Kidd… Screw that work in the real world Kidd then tell me how bad you have it….

by John on Feb 11, 2008 10:55 AM EST reply actions

@kevin

VC is still one of the best players in the game(just look at the game yesterday)…….and he becomes more of Vinsanity again as his ankle feels better- let him some time and he will be the old Vince again

further, I watched the ellbow of bass against VC several times in slow motion and it was obvious that he got really hit badly……so what is your point!?!?

by dadi on Feb 11, 2008 11:13 AM EST reply actions

@ kevin
how’s life in Haterville ?!

by stillflashy on Feb 11, 2008 11:24 AM EST reply actions

@ stillflashy
It’s very good thanks for asking.

by kevin on Feb 11, 2008 11:56 AM EST reply actions

Kevin are you joking. Have you ever played ball? I know more than anyone that when you get hit in the head while playing any sport the results can be very dangerous. The fact that he came back and scored 25 is amazing. There is a difference between having an argument, and just saying what you feel, because you don’t like someone, or something. Carter played this well and you still continue to criticize him. I really thought you did it because he was playing bad, but now I see that you are bias.

by Jerrod on Feb 11, 2008 3:15 PM EST reply actions

@ Jerrod
I’m not joking at all. Why would you guys praise a guy who scores 25+ points occasionally, when he’s fully capable of doing this every game? Whenever he scores, his assists are down, whenever he scores low, his assists are up. It’s like he’s choosing to be a playmaker one game and a scorer in another. I mean wtf!? Either do both, like Kobe and LeBron, or just concentrate on scoring. And don’t dare say I can’t compare him to these two, because you people are the ones saying he’s one of the best at what he does, so comparing him to these two are legit.

by kevin on Feb 11, 2008 3:54 PM EST reply actions

Welp! Looks like this was a show case for Mark Cuban after all!!

Kidd can go to hell

by Mr. Dollar Bills on Feb 11, 2008 3:54 PM EST reply actions

The NBA is a marathon. To bring it every night nowadays is almost impossible without sustaining wear and tear and injuries. During Showtime Lakers maybe thru hard training, the Reilly system they can do it. These days they got to be athletic every night. No rest. Maybe that’s why these old pros like Kidd, Carter are trying to reserve a lot of gas in the tank for a run at the end of season and the playoff. How much does Boston and Detroit will have later? Orlando, Cleveland have one young guy and (superstuds). Toronto is young but no superathlete. It will be interseting.

by edd on Feb 11, 2008 3:59 PM EST reply actions

nets played great offensively and defensively. and as their best two players go, kidd and carter, so do the nets.

but frank needs to quit putting malik allen on, who stinks on defense, and put swift in instead of him.

i think frank is playing armstrong instead of mwill to put pressure on thorn not to trade kidd. cause there is no reason armstrong should play instead of mwill.

swill is becoming a star in the making. what a player. the nets are set for the next 10 yrs in the frontcourt rotation.

when the offense runs through carter and kidd all game long, the nets are dangerouss offensive team. when they switch into the motion crap, and go through rj as the initiator on offense they are the worst team in the league. as thorn would say the proof is in the pudding.

kevin-ya carter hasnt played his best basketball this year, but since he took that cortisone shot he’s been pretty good. and not only that he’s been their best defender hands down. he’s been pretty consistant since that shot. ya he may of got 18 poits but with 9 reb and 7 asst. complete game. and to say that when he scores he doesnt pass is just plain dumb. what did he average since he bevcame a net-25-6-5 maybe 5 other players in the league have those averages, kobe, lebron, and wade.

you know what kevin, you just dont make sense. mr dollar bills is at least consistant. he feels that they could play better and they arnt(kidd and carter). you just plainly hate vc. and i know why, you wish rj 1/10th of vc’s game. you’re not a true netfan, you’re a rj fan, and the only one, along netsdaily. sorry bro.

by mina on Feb 11, 2008 7:22 PM EST reply actions

“you’re not a true netfan, you’re a rj fan, and the only one, along netsdaily. sorry bro.”

That is hilarious.

by NetsDaily on Feb 11, 2008 8:35 PM EST reply actions

Vince has been playing superb defense lately. I still remember a couple of big games we won on the last play of the game because of VC’s defense. Yeah Vince has played the other team best player pretty well especially Kobe.

I am sic and tired of JKidd drama. Now that his agent is bullying the Nets office is unfair and down right hardcore, streetlike thuggish.

by Runnin' on Feb 11, 2008 8:49 PM EST reply actions

dadi & mina ………..I;m in agreement with your post.

by Runnin' on Feb 11, 2008 8:51 PM EST reply actions

I’m actually a Kidd fan. And to all the people that says it’s all Kidd’s fault and he quit on this team, well I don’t know. All I know is that Kidd flourishes when it comes to running and defense. The Dallas game, I actually saw Carter running. And I’m proud of him for that. In turn, we had a 21-4 advantage in fast breaks and we held the high scoring Mavs to 82 points. DEFENSE AND RUNNING. Combine both of those and you have a formula for winning.

by kevin on Feb 11, 2008 9:09 PM EST reply actions

I don’t think Kidd has ever quit. We’re just playing better now. Not coincidentially, we finally have a healthy roster.
