Yi an All-Star? It Could Happen

There is a spectre haunting the NBA and he is 7-foot tall and plays for the Nets. Marc Spears of the Boston Globe reports the league fears "an unproven player from China" could not only cut into vote totals for Lebron James and Kevin Garnett "but also challenge them for a starting forward spot" on the East. Yi Jianlian received 450,000 write-in ballots last season and "strong voting" from China could swing the vote.

as much as I want to see Yi become a star, I really do think it’s unfair for him to make it to the all-star team, he needs to earn that right, it’s not right and you know there’ll be some complaints.

Yi is no where near being an all star caliber player and if he gets in its a joke!

It would be nice if Yi makes the Rooks vs. Sophs game, playing against Brook Lopez.

Right! By the All-star game he might not be starting on the Nets. How funny would that be if he starts ahead of KG and behind Ryan Anderson! “I love this game!”

There is NO chance, barring injury, that Anderson will be starting over Yi by the All-Star break. None. Anderson, by the way, is perfectly suited for a sixth man role…he brings energy and shooting. He can also pass a little better than we have seen.

But since you are an Anderson fan, let me offer you this:

LOL, we could have 80 per cent of the 2010 Nets starting, Yi, VC, Harris and Lebron, too bad we can’t get Lopez in too, we should vote daily to make it happen

It would be hilarious to see Yi make it as a starter. By the next All-Star game there would be a rule that the fans can vote on starters, but there would be a chosen rep for each team in the league and if at least 8 out of 15 reps vote against a selection for their conference its over-turned and the league chooses a new All-Star selection.

@ Mr.DB

Yep that would be funny!

@iSpartan

I vote for our 3 guys every time I can, and so should do every Nets fan!

If yi’s fg% doesn’t improve in a big hurry and anderson continues to shoot well, then yi should damn well be coming off the bench to back up anderson, instead of the other way around.

If not, then that just further proves that the yi-jefferson trade was all about marketing, not basketball.

And btw … yi on the all-star team = total embarrassment for the nba.
