Around SBN: Champions League Preview with Jimmy Conrad

It's Official: It's Boone

Josh Boone, as expected, will be starting center Wednesday night when the Nets face off against the Wizards. For Boone, who only played one preseason game after a heart scare, it's a big vote of confidence from his coach. "It makes me want to work a little bit harder," the Nets' starting center said. Meanwhile, polls have closed in the race for Nets' captain but the winner hasn't been announced.

I could see Josh Boone having a breakout season similiar to what Chris Kaman did last year. Why not?!

I don’t get where all this uncertainty comes from surrounding Boone. He was really good last season. We should run pick & roll for Boone every play. He owns that move.

I wonder who captain will be. Maybe Ager?

by jerrod on Oct 29, 2008 2:12 PM EDT reply actions

yeah boone!!!!!

its better that lopez doesnt start yet hes just a rookie…

by Andy on Oct 29, 2008 2:18 PM EDT reply actions

no suprise. For some reason Frank is not a big rookie guy, maybe because he is so young.

by mike on Oct 29, 2008 2:23 PM EDT reply actions

Let the game begin no more ppl saying the team is this and that.Lets go out there and play hard and agressive.

MO Ager you dum a$$

I wish we could start Boone and Lopez at the same time because both are worthy to start.

Look at it this way though, at least Boone starting will keep Lopez out of foul trouble

@MR.Dollar Bills at somepoint this season that may happen.

If Yi does not play well, or if Yi moves to the 3, its possible we could see both Boone-Lopez as the starting 4/5 and that would be really cool.

We could have Williams and Swift off the bench.

by ChrisGNetfan on Oct 29, 2008 3:07 PM EDT reply actions

ther shouldn’t be a poll to determine whom the captian is for the Nets. he was the captian the day Kidd jumped ship..VC

Ager is ballin…Nobody could do we Ager can do from the seat of a warm bench.

Glad to see Josh Boone starting…I’m guessing his heart is fine. I anxious to see how much burn our three rookies get tonight. We could use Brook plugging the middle.

SeanCarter, It is and always should of Been Boone’s job to lose.

by Jersey_Blues on Oct 29, 2008 3:50 PM EDT reply actions

why Jersey_Blues? cause he’s been there longer? boone hasnt proven anything.

by mike on Oct 29, 2008 3:54 PM EDT reply actions

Boone is the vet, and showed last year why he belongs in the NBA.

Sorry Mike but Boone is the starter tonight, cry all you want about it but it anit going to change.

Boone should be the starter anyway right now.

by Jersey_Blues on Oct 29, 2008 3:56 PM EDT reply actions

Frank sucks big time! I want jvg! Or that guy that is coaching the Memphis tigers.

by lol on Oct 29, 2008 4:21 PM EDT reply actions

Boone doesn’t draw double team. Lopez could.

And Boone isn’t like Kaman. Kaman has postup moves and can bang his way into the paint; that’s not Boone’s game.
Dont’ get carried away!
Boone is a starter who doesn’t make mistakes but doesn’t do anything amazing. Thats about it!

didnt we try the mempphis tigers coach already?

I am pacing around my house, can’t wait for the tip off. Subscribed to NBA League Pass, so I can watch ALL the games, from here in Delray Beach, Florida. Glad Boone got the nod, but doesn’t mean he’ll play more than 25 tonight. Brook
must get a “good burn” and his play, and Yi’s play early in the season will tell us alot about whether we win 25 or 35 this year, and even more importantly, whether we win 35 or 45 NEXT YEAR, and 45 or 55 in 2010——-with a big free agent, like DWADE or CBOSH!!! Because friends…Lebron ain’t coming to the Meadowlands, sorry!

by Paul Erstein on Oct 29, 2008 5:13 PM EDT reply actions

There are 96 MPG between the 4/5. Boone, Lopez, Yi will all get atleast 25 MPG.

by Jersey_Blues on Oct 29, 2008 5:23 PM EDT reply actions

1st point scored by Yi

I visited a buddy in Boston and yes we went to the opening game for the Celtics last night! I wore my blue NEW JERSEY NETS jersey and hat proudly! There was a sea of green and I truely was the only fan there that was not wearing some sort of green. For the most part, I just received dirty looks and the fans I sat near were friendly. When I returned back from getting some beverages after the first quarter, however, I was getting comments thrown my way. “You are in the wrong arena” and “go back to Jersey” were the most popular quotes. I guess I can’t complain though I was asking for it. lol Hey, if people come into our building with other jerseys, well than I will do the same. Either way, it killed me to see another banner raise to the rafters in that building. I so want to hang a championship banner in our building! LETS GO NETS!
