Sean Deveney of The Sporting News advises the Lakers' Mitch Kupchak to trade Kobe Bryant before the tension between the two sides degenerates into a distress sale. The worst case scenario, writes Deveney, would resemble what happened between the Raptors and Vince Carter. The Raptors' refusal to give up Carter for good but not great packages led to the Nets grabbing him in what Deveney calls "one of the most disastrous trades in NBA history".
