Do His Teammates Believe Jason Kidd?

Al Iannazzone, in The Record and in his blog, suggests that some of the Nets may not be as united behind their captain as their public comments let on. Some, he writes in the Record, "believe he staged a boycott Wednesday". But in his blog, he notes only that "we hear some players are upset". If Kidd gets extended, Iannazzone goes on, "it could alienate some of the players".

Hey Al, maybe I missed it, but I didn’t see QUOTES from any player saying they were unhappy with Kidd’s DNP or that
they were owed an explanation from Kidd. The quotes that you reported said the exact opposite, that they fully supported Kidd and believed he did have a migraine. But nice try Al.

The media needs to leave the Nets alone and let them play basketball.

This is not going to stop what makes it even harder to the Nets..But they will find the way to win,and that will be very soon !!

If they did trade them, we dont need any distractions from people who are lesser than Kidd. But like newark hawk said there have been no quotes from anyone, and most importantly Vince and RJ believe him.

Al sounds like he’s trying to create drama just so that he has a “good story”. He sites no sources, has zero quotes from the players… It’s just a bunch of hot air.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Carter had his best game of the season yesterday, and that the team really appeared to be hustling their butts off out there yesterday. I think all of this has motivated them to be better. They are all getting behind Kidd and playing harder.

Oh, Al. Who cares? Move on. Let’s get back to playing basketball. Who cares who believes who (you don’t have any credible information anyway, Al). Play basketball.

No quotes are on the record, but who in their right mind would ever speak on the record against the team’s best player. Everyone needs to move on…and start to play better, that includes Kidd.

it doesnt matter if they do or dont. kidd single handedly change this franchise upside down, when he is on the court nobody in the league plays as hard as him and thats what matters. hopefully the nets can turn things around. the next stretch of games are crucial and can help them turn things around.

The jokes on us: we thought they’d be one of the 4 best teams. Nahhhhh, same ol Nets. No heart. Even healthy and old krstic back what are they a 40 win team. Big deal. They have no one who can carry them beside Kidd and he needs shooters around him and slashers, not that guy who holds the ball behind his back and shoot off balance fade away 2o footers!

@LUE
The nets aren’t playing basketball, that’s why the media is ****ing with them.

Sorry guys, Kidd brought this all on himself. He ripped his teammates for underachieving and recently he has been an underachiever. He reminds me of scripture that talks about a person that throw rocks and hide his hands.

@ Kinney
Kidd is an underachiever? You obviously don’t know what he’s accomplished so far in his career. If he gets a championship, his career is going to be perfect.
@ King John da FiF
For once I agree with you.
@ Geo
When was the last time this team was healthy for a whole season? I’ll tell you, 2001-2003, when they won 52 and 49 games. They are a 40 win team because they haven’t had a whole team in awhile.

I believe RJ and or Vince have had it with Kidd. RJ had called Kidd on his pretensions in 2004.

i’m sick and tired to hear that injuries are the excuse. so you’re saying if they wasnt injurd they woudnt be down 18 in every single game they are playing. over 50% of teams have injuries. dont look far, the nets are playing washington next and they have played much better than the nets have without their best player arenas. so youre telling me that the nets without kristic are worse than washington without arenas. come on…the nets are probably as good as wash healthy without kristic. injuries hurt but by far it isnt the reason for their horrible play as of late. the problem is much more deep rooted than injuries. but again being a net fan i hope they take advantage of their next stretch of games, which are all winnable, and turn things around for the better.

@Kinney
I love you guy. you are crazy dude.
@Kevin
Jason Kidd is perfect? Geesh, he brickem with the best of them. I appreciate his hustle but he is no where near perfect.

As far as I know, Kidd is a master manipulator. He may be a great player.
Since the first Finals, he has been pulling strings to have the roster changed. Remember Mutumbo, Mourning, Rodney Rogers …?
He has stopped playing for Scott, and, “bam”, Scott is out. Frank then went on to win a record 14-game winning streak. Was Frank such a great coach? Maybe. But that may be the evidence that if Kidd can turn on and off the engine of the team to affect the fate of coaches.
This team has had chemistry problem last year and this year. And I don’t think it’s a coincidence. It’s the glue guy, Kidd, who has started to disintegrate his team.
Don’t tell me that it’s too early in the season and this team is able to reverse is bad fortune. This season has been long enough to show that Kidd+Carter+RJ trio is not going to carry the team anywhere. They have played scared, and is that because the lack of support and gelling from your teammates in the locker room? Possibly.
Ratner should leave Thorn alone to do his own job. Extension s for Carter and potentially Kidd would be the start of a train wreck of the New Jersey Nets.

Kidd is not perfect. some of the losses are his fault. He could score more. Great guy and player, but I refuse to give him credit that he does not deserve.
by jerrod on Dec 8, 2007 11:23 PM EST reply actions
Washington is better without that chucker Arenas. Bad example.

So you guys are going to base Kidd’s non-perfect career just because he can’t shoot? Wow, you guys don’t know basketball at all, and you obviously don’t know what he’s done in the 13 years he’s been in the league. Besides winning a championship and an MVP, which he was robbed of I may add, he has done practically everything.
Mina, 50% of the teams have injuries, true. But how many teams have had 3 players out this year? How many teams have had their star player out for 5 games this year? How many teams have had their bench players not performing at their peak this year? How many other teams, besides the Lakers, have had rumors of their star core being dismantled?
