The Trials of Billy Thomas

Billy Thomas knows this may be his last shot at The Show--the NBA. And it couldn't have come at a better time. Thomas was playing in the D-League, where players get a paltry $25,000, because a dispute with his old Serbian team prevented him from playing elsewhere in Europe. Moreover, it gives his a chance to redeem himself with the Nets who he admits he let down in 2005.

Bad influences, eh? I think there were a lot of them on that team…or at least a lot of guys who didn’t really have any business being in the NBA. But just for kicks, I wonder who it was. Jabari Smith, Rodney Buford, Ron Mercer? Smith and Buford always seemed like nice guys. I’m guessing it was Mercer.

I am confused! They get 25k per season in NBDL?

Boone’s STUPID REACH-IN FOUL on Billups at the end of the 2nd quarter started the collapse. The 6-point lead became a
3-point lead and the rout was on. A WELL-COACHED, WELL-DISCIPLINED team doesn’t make these type of REPEATED MENTAL ERRORS, especially in a big game like this one. They’re eliminated in training camp, in preseason, in practices, in shootarounds, in film sessions, in the locker room and on the bench. Whatever Frank is doing to eliminate stupid fouls, poor box-outs, lazy passes, crosscourt passes, homerun passes, overdribbling, overhelping defenders and lethargic play ISN’T WORKING, despite most of his players having HIGH BASKETBALL IQs and STRONG WORK ETHICS. It’s time for Thorn to wake up, smell the coffee and get the Nets a REAL HEAD COACH!!!

This guy sounds like a true man on a mission but I don’t wonna over exaggerate he has to prove he can contribute to stay on the team.

Sounds like a crappy situation with his contract overseas. I remember that game he had a career high with the Nets. Glad to see things are working out for him and he is back to contribute whatever he can at any time.

Very revealing story. Makes you think that Frank benched the guy for not being a towel waving cheerleader. Typical Frank.
